Paul Woodside, a freshman walk-on, kicked two field goals and West Virginia found a running attack that had been dormant most of the season to defeat Rutgers 20-3 Saturday and keep alive the Mountaineers' hopes for a bowl bid. The victory gave West Virginia an 8-2 record going into next week's game with Syracuse and dropped the Scarlet Knights to 5-5. Scouts from five bowl games watched the Mountaineers' victory. West Virginia got its first touchdown on a 1-yard run by fullback Dane Conwell In the first quarter, but an alert Rutgers defense and a sloppy Mountaineer passing attack kept the Mountaineers out of the end zone again until late in the fourth quarter.

Rutgers' only score came in the third quarter on a 46-yard field goal by Alex Falcinelli, the longest of his career. Princeton 35 Yale 31 PRINCETON, N.J. Quarterback Bob Holly passed for 501 yards including three touchdowns and ran in the winning score with four seconds remaining as Princeton upset previously undefeated Yale, 35-31.
