Naomi Schedl, an assistant professor of textile design at UI, is coordinating the workshops. Ms. Smith is an instructor in weaving at Colorado State Uni uith honors from Stanford University and MFA degree in ied tapestry weaving at Aubusson, France, and printed textiles at the University of Baroda in India. Her master's thesis dealt with ancient Peruvian textiles. She is at home with both traditional techniques and materials, such as wool and tapestry, and with contemporary materials.

Unusual in the latter category are her pieces which incorporate strips of aluminum, of- BTinTrt ten combined with fur or feath ers. Ms. Schira's fiber works are weaving and textile design in Objects USA, the Johnson the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
