Danville, Thursday, Nov. 23, 1972 3-C Sears GUARDIAN of the Presi- dent's office dpor, H. R. Haldcman is one of the most powerful men in the White House. He decides who sees the President and has come under fire from some quarters for allegedly isolating his boss.

Audrey Voted New Member Of Bank Board By JACQUELINE KING Associated Press Writer HOLLYWOOD (AP) Assets of the First National Bank of Denver include a director with creditable ideas, interest and a good figure actress Audrey Meadows Six. As television's Alice Kram- den of Jackie Gleason's old "The Honeymooners" series, she had difficulty balancing her household allowance. But, as the wife of Robert F. Six, president of Continental Airlines, she has supervised budgets and schedules in the building and remodeling of Con- tinental's Presidents Clubs and has designed the interior of the first-class section of the air- line's DClO fleet. Now the board of the First National Bank of Denver has voted Mrs.

Six its only female director. She learned of the di- rectorship in a memo from her husband. Because Six is a member of the board of the United Bank of Denver, First National Bank of- ficials asked his permission to make his wife a director. "Bob thought it was a great idea," Mrs. Six said in an inter- view.

said he couldn't think of a better choice, and so I asked him why he always calls me He laughed 'and said it's just a term of en- dearment and anybody would be crazy not to want me for anything." The nasal voice was familiar. But, this Audrey Meadows unwrinkled, slim, her short au- burn hair smartly styled looks even younger than the Al- ice Kramden she portrayed more than two decades ago. Then, she became serious. "While I don't pretend to be a financier," she said, "I do know that banking is a business and there are certain practices that are simply good business." The most important, she said, -is courtesy. "It's amazing how many bank employes act like they're doing you a favor when you bank with them," Mrs.

Six added. "And, why do banks' have to look so sterilf 7 The 43-year-old says she can foresee the day when banks will be painted bright colors and carpeted. Possibly, the day might come, she said, when short films might be shown or magazines distributed to enter- tain customers waiting in line. She will be paid a standard fee, $100 per meeting. At first, Mrs.

Six said, she plans to do a lot of observing at board meet- ings. "I know I've got a lot to learn about banking," she said. "I'm still so amazed at being voted a director, I'm afraid to ask why I was chosen. They might think it over and change their minds." She says she hopes no one views her election as a victory for women's liberation. "I con- sider men the greatest thing put on earth for us women, and I'm not in competition with any one of them," she said.

The Sixs add up to a unique "His and Hers" banking com- bination, and, Mrs. Six says, the only professional rivalry be- tween them is when each kid- dingly refers to the other's bank as "the little bank down the street." She admits thai, she still keeps her Denver checking account at "His" bank, but with a throaty laugh explains that she just transferred a loan to "Hers."
