and Mrs. Frank Nelson home, and visited other relatives in the afternoon. Mrs. Dick Corbin and children were Ludlow visitors Tuesday morning. Mrs.

Cassie Bryan spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. Ida Jamison. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson and daughters, Judy and Sandra of near Kearney were afternoon callers in the Mrs.

Lillie Johnson, Ray Smith nncl Mason Smith homes Sunday. Jimmie Mossbarger, arrived in Kansas City Sunday morning, June 15, by plane from California to spend the summer with his father, Jimmie Mossbarger, sr. They came to Ludlow that day to spend the day with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs.

Russell Woods and sons, Jackie and Freddie, spent Sunday with Mr. Woods' mother, Mrs. Vada Woods, and his sister, Mrs. Leo Harms, and Mr. Harms at Gashland, Mo.

Mrs. Vada Wood.s had been under the cure of a Bmit'i- ville doctor since her release from the hospital. Wo are glad to report her condition is improved, but due to a continued infection she has not been released to return to her home. Mr. and Mrs.

Mr, and Mrs. Stanley Austin and son, Miami, were visitors last week Tor a few days at the home his brother, Lavere Austin and family. They were callers Thursday afternoon at the Mr. and Mrs. August Sturwoldt home.

Celebrated Birthdays Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alley were honor guests at a 6 o'clock dinner party Wednesday evening. The event was held at the Mr. and Mrs.

Ralph Cain home, and was in honor of their birthday anniversaries, both occuring in June, other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burton. Following the bounteous dinner, all spent a most pleasant evening together. Mr.

nnd Mrs. William Pote were 6 o'clock dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Dean Slater and family Wednesday evening. Mr.

of the Ludlow Baptist church met Wednesday evening at the church with the president, Mrs. Bud Hughes, in charge. Eight members were present. The business portion was opened by singing, followed in prayer by Mrs. Fred Bryan.

Plans were made to assist with the meals the week of the Livingston County camp for the young people. The topic of the lesson was "On the Threshold of Life." Song, "We'll Work Til Jesus Comes," was sung, followed by prayer by Mrs. Daugherty. The leader gave the scripture reading. Luke and the devotional.

The members present assisted in presenting the lesson. Mrs. John Madden will lead the meeting for July. Mrs. Jewell Fitzpatrick spent Saturday night and Sunday with her mother, Mrs.

Avie Toner. Mrs. Robert Trosper and Mrs. John Madden were shipping in Chillicothe Tuesday, Former Resident Dies The sudden death of Russell White, 63, a former Ludlow resident, came as a- shock to his many friends here. The Whites, while Mr.

White was owner of a drug store, resided in Wheeling for several years. They were vacationing in Illinois where they had gone to visit their daughter, Mrs. Delos Huddlestone, and family at Champaigne and other relatives. On June 11, Mr. White was injured in a triffice accident, where he suffered fractures of an arm and leg and facial lacerations, and was hospitalized at Normal, 111.

One June 13 he suffered a stroke and his death occurred early Tuesday morning. The body was returned to Wheeling Thursday and memorial services were held at the Methodist church in Wheeling Friday at 2 p. m. Burial was in the Wheeling cemetery. This community extends deepest sympathy to the family in their great sorrow.

Reed-IIikok Nuptials Miss Dorothy Ann Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Reed of Sedalia, became the bride of Mr. John Dibie Hikok Saturday night, when their wedding was solemnized at the Broadway Presbyterian church in Sedalia, Mrs. Hikok is a niece of Mrs.

George Morse of Ludlow, and her father lived in Ludlow as a youngsters, and will be remembered by many here. Golden Wedding Open House Mr. and Mrs. William Gilliland held open house from 2 to 5 p. m.

Sunday in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary at their home east of town. There were 151 well wishing relatives and friends who were there to sign the register and to help them properly celebrate the occasion. The lace covered table had for its centerpieces beautiful, huge and delicious Baltimore Wedding cake, baked and professionally decorated by Mrs. Murl Toner of Independence. Granddaughters of Mr.

and Mrs. Gilliland, Mrs. Kenneth Blann, served the euest cake, punch and cashew nuts, and Mrs. Bill Cummings had charge of the guest book. The Gillilands were the recipients of many beautiful and useful gifts.

They are both in very good health, and enjoyed visiting with so many of their relatives and friends on this special occasion. All departed wishing this estimable couple continued good health and many more happy anniversaries. Mrs. Harry Beckley, Mrs. Ed Hlg- gias, Mrs.

Cassie Bryan and Mrs. Claud Wells were shopping in Chillicothe Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Miekey McKnight and small son, stevie, arrived in Kansas City Sunday evening by plane to spend a few weeks with Missouri relatives and friends.

They were met in the city by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Goll and Mrs. Lawrence McKnight. Mrs.

Tom Robinson took suddenly ill about noon Thursday, and was taken to Dr. Goldberg's office, in Braymer, for treatment by John Busy. Her many friends are hoping for an improvement in her condition in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sturwoldt and her mother of Kansas City visited with Ludlow relatives arrl friends Sunday, and attended the open house at the home of Mr. Stur- worldt's sister, Mrs. William Gilliland, and Mr.

Gilliland. celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Miss Virginia Ulrich, who was injured in a traffic accident some five weeks ago, returned to her work Kansas City last week. Miss Carrol Jean Hamblin. who was injured in the same accident, is still unable to return to her employment, and is at the home of her parent's, Mr.

and Mrs. Leland Hamblin. Suffered Heart Attack While in attendance at the golden wedding open house at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Gilliland, and Mr. Gilliland Sunday, Mrs.

Emma Layton, Braymer suffered a severe heart attack. She was rushed to the Chillicothe hospital by ambulance where she is still a patient. Her condition is reported to be somewhat improved. James E. Woods and daughter, Linda, of San Diego, were guests last week of his brothers, Kennet and Russell Woods, and families.

He went to Gashland Thursday to see his mother, Mrs. Vada Woods, and his sister, Mrs. Leo Harms, and Mr. Harms. Mrs.

Roy Empanger, Bell is visiting her mother, Mrs. Ina Crookshanks, and other relatives. There was no preaching services at the Ludlow Baptist church Sunday due to the fact that the pastor, Rev. Darner, was being ordained at his home church at Joplin. Mr.

and Mrs. Floyd Crookshanks, Bill and Randy of Browning, Mr. James Crookshanks, Shiela, Ruth and Jimmie, of Tina, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crookshanks, Ann, Martha, Dana and David were afternoon callers Sunday of Mrs.

Ina Crookshanks. Mr. and Mrs. John Madden were dinner guests Sunday at the Mr. and Mrs.

Robert Trosper home. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. D. L.

Mossbarger, J. E. Mossbarger and son, Jimmie, and Mrs. Mary Hedrick, all of Kansas City, Kan. Miss Tanya Stodgell is spending the week at Grand Oaks camp.

Miss Martha Sprague was a Sunday guest of Ann and Martha Crookshanks. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stodgell, Tanya, Pamela and Gale called on Mrs. Ina Crookshanks and Mrs.

Corine Empanger Sunday evening. Mrs. Jack Clevenger came last week to spend the summer with her mother, Mrs. Kenneth Woods, Joey Lynn and Martha Ann. Jimmy Crookshanks of Tina is spending the week with his grandmother, Mrs.

Ina Crookshanks, and his aunt, Mrs. Corine Empanger. Due to an error, the following names were omitted last week from those who made the bus trip to Jefferson City: Mrs. Ona Bryan, Mrs. Mae Goll and Mrs.

Carrie Beckley. Miss Ann Crookshanks spent a week in Maryville with her cousin, Ginger Barnes. Misses Betty and Doris Oster of Kansas City were weekend visitors at the Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bryan home.
