22nd MA 2-0181 JP's Decision Shows Wisdom Of Solomon Justice of the Peace Clark H. Johnson had to'make a Solomon-like decision yesterday when Frank P. Valles, 34, appeared in court on a charge of failure to provide for minor children. Johnson finally sentenced Valles to 180 days at public works, and ordered his $2- a-day pay split so all the children would share. Only trouble is, three complaints were filed against Valles, each of them by a different woman, and five children are involved.

So Johnson ordered two- fifths of his pay to one woman with two of Valles' children, one-fifth to another with one child and the remaining two-fifths to the third woman with two of his children. Valles gave his address as 1014 S. Rubio Ave. Mrs. Joey Jeffery, 422 N.

COME IN TO MAICO ATKINSON (22 N. Stone MA 3-311? Mineo portrayed Andrea, a consumption wracked, dedicated follower of the so-called Sicilian Robin Hood, Davidde, portrayed by Gazzara. Slowly, Andrea came to see that he must be the instrument of Davidde's death, for Davidde had adopted an intolerable "any-man-who-interferes with my justice dies" code of behavior. A series of flashbacks, the first of which was premature, pieced Andrea's torment on view. Mineo's portrayal of the dying young man was incongruous.

He flexed strong muscles, screarried, himself about and looked glowingly, vibrantly healthy even as he lay there coughing his lungs out. I think they call it overacting. I don't believe Mineo gauged his part properly at all. And by trying to dominate Gazzara in several scenes, he destroyed the story's profile. Gazzara and Falk had a bit more success than Mineo, but they, too, let themselves get carried away with gaudy lines.

Deficencies in the script also helped thin out the force of Gazzara's deterioration as the bandit leader.
