Weldon, 80, of River Forest, a longtime arts patron who became an executive at the family-run auto-parts manufacturing company, died of complications from heart surgery Monday, Nov. 18, in KindredHospital inNorthlake. Born and raised in Chicago, Patricia Butler met her future husband, William Weldon, when she was a teenager.Be- fore their earned acollege degree from Rosary College and worked for a time as a catalogwriter at Sears, detailing how to be a good shoe salesman, her daughter said. Once their children werein college, Mrs. Weldonreturned to Rosary and earned a degree in business administration.

She then joined Van Bergen an independent manufacturer and rebuilder of starter drives. The Maywood company was owned by her husband, who had inherited the business from his father. before working there, she was writing speeches and writing for the said her daughter. had done everything behind the Mrs. Weldon became marketing director for the company and became CEO in 1988, the year her husband died.

A son now runs the company. In 1992, she was honored for her service by the Automotive Parts Rebuilders Association. was a second phase in her daughter said. was her chance to shine individually and to use her education and intellect and creativity on her Mrs. Weldonwas a former member of the Lyric Opera Guild and enjoyed theater and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, her daughter said.
