It was only a matter of time before homosexual revelations would upstage the no-secret's-sacred cycle sweeping the book world. The latest entries: three biographies of late film idol Tyrone Power including one by daughter Romina, and one of late columnist Louella Parsons by her daughter Harriet. Harriet, a middle-aged woman who has been a screenwriter-producer, reveals Didn't Tell Mother will deal with her involvement in Hollywood's homosexual community.

She started writing the book 16 years ago, then put it aside when her mother became ill. "I avoided the truth the first time. I never admitted I was a lesbian," never discussed it with her mother. "I'm sure she knew but she was a bit of an ostrich." While Morrow readies its gay Power tale by Hector Acre for May, Doubleday's Fred Gyiles is spicing the matinee idol's wild womanizing ways. But Romina, 26, says her story will tell what her father was really like.

How well Romina knew him is a matter of conjecture. She was only 5 when he divorced her mother, actress Linda Christian, and she was a mere 7 when he died in 1958 at the age of 45. But she could tell a sobering childhood story that would rival Mommie Dearest by Joan Crawford's daughter Christina. After their parents' divorce, Romina and sister Taryn (now 24) were shipped off to Mexico to their maternal THE PHANTOM grandmother. Taryn once told me, "Mother didn't want to be around anything that reminded her of my father." The girls did live briefly with mama and her second husband, British actor Edmund Purdom, in Rome, but it wasn't long before Linda put them in boarding schools.

They spent the rest of their formative years in schools In England, Switzerland and Italy. While they were still in their young teens, Taryn recalls, "Mother said if we wanted to keep going to school, we should find our own." The school Taryn found was a coeducational institution in Florence, Italy, where, in her words, "I really got an education! All the girls there had Florentine lovers and by the time I was 14, 1 had one, too." Both Romina and Taryn were to try to follow in their parents' theatrical footsteps. Neither, I'm told, has tried to become close to their mother. Lee whose movie offers are usually in the $750,000 range, was offered three movies one at $1,400,000, one at $1,500,000. And the third Tai'pan with options and percentages, could amount to millions.

Lee has been so busy in his courtroom battle with Michelle Triola, he hasn't had time to read the scripts. FOLA THE FALCON PEACHES! She peeled off Jane Fonda, Faye Dunaway, Jennifer O'Neil, Sarah Miles, Liv Ullmann, Lee Grant, Carroll Baker and, of course, Brigitte Bardot. "Nudity doesn't shock anybody anymore," she said.

"People are more open and open-minded. Since they can't shock us with nudity, they make films about other planets trying to blow us up." Omen?
