6 CHICAGO TRIBUNE METRO SECTION2 By Jo Napolitano and Hal Dardick Tribune staff reporters The husband of a missing Plainfield woman was denied temporary sole custody of their children Tuesday as a Will County judge said there was insufficient evidence to support the request. Craig attorney, Dion Davi, told Judge Joseph Polito that he needed to protect the two children in case their mother came back and took them elsewhere. Craig Stebic was not at the hearing.

Lisa attorney, Glenn Kahn, said arguments would have to be made regarding the best interests of the children and that petition fell short. A July 18 court date is set. Greenberg said her family is in regular contact with Craig Stebic and that she spoke to him over the weekend. Away from the courtroom, Davi said he does not believe news reports quoting unidentified sources saying that police found DNA evidence on a tarp in Craig possession and that investigators used that evidence to get the search warrant last week for the home and vehicles. Davi said he has a complete inventory of the items taken from the Stebic home during two voluntary searches.

None indicated that police took a tarp.
