Survived by one Here) at Homewith Ed Kalis, L.F.D. Mark Twain said, "Everybody talks about the weather but they don't do anything about it." 1 That's about the way it is with the energy shortage. Sure, we have a 55 mile speed limit but we don't stay within it unless there is a 'smokey' up ahead. Isn't it about time for us to realize that we do not have a factory deep down in the earth to manufacture fossil fuels as fast as we can burn them? It took nature millions of years to manufacture the oil, coal and gas we now use. You and I may not be in a position to do much about it, but we can urge our representatives to get busy.

KALIS FUNERAL HOME 2505 N. DIXIE HWY. WILTON MANORS Adv. An AARP card isn't just the perfect birthday card for someone who's over 55. It's the perfect birthday card for anyone who's over 55.

Your college professor, your child's babysitter, your favorite uncle. Anyone who deserves something a little bit special. Once someone becomes an AARP member (by the way, spouses are automatically included as members), they're too busy, too involved, and too interested in living just to sit back and count the years. You can give an AARP membership to anyone who is 55. even if they aren't retired.

AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan association. Its purpose is to help people over 55 lead a better, more exciting life. So for $3, you can make someone like your favorite. Uncle, happy on his birthday by making him one of the 10 million people who belong to the American Association of Retired People. People who are taking advantage of their age to get the best out of living.

You really can't afford not to give AARP Because AARP means discounts. On travel and hotel accommodations all over the country. And, through the Pharmacy Service, on all drugs and medical supplies he needs, delivered to his home. postage paid. And AARP means finding out about eligibility for insurance plans tailor -made for people over 55.

Group Health Insurance that starts where Medicare stops. Information about Auto Insurance that comes with a Guaranteed Lifetime Protection feature. AARP doesn't only offer discounts Let AARP offer him its 2800 local chapters, full of new people to meet and new things to learn. At many, he'll be invited to take classes in defensive driving. Or have someone help him fill out his tax returns.

Or he can get advice on the perfect place to retire. But he won't have to go to an AARP local chapter to be exposed to new and exciting thoughts. Along with his membership he'll receive subscriptions to two publications designed to interest his age group. Modern Maturity and the AARP News Bulletin will give him hours of informative and interesting reading. He'll be able to read about pertinent consumer information, health advice, and also be kept up to date on special legislation for people over 55.

FTD Your Extra Touch TODAY'S THOUGHT By DAN FAIRCHILD The tremendous wealth of the late Howard Hughes, and the flock of wills that have cropped up for probation, should cause people to think. For example, we have the highest standard of living in the world. This is mainly because acquisition of wealth and property is considered a social virtue. Basically, there is nothing wrong with this UNLESS it involves, as it often does, over-indulgence or self indulgence beyond reason. Is it not silly and ridiculous to have so much to live with, and so little to live for? No one can ordinarily take possessions away from us.

But we only own things for a short while on earth, and then have to relinquish them. How we use these possessions while we have them, and how we provide for their use later on when we no longer have them, is important. Everything we have, including life itself, is only leased to us for a while. A matter of stewardship involved. The many excellent sermons we have all heard on the subject of stewardship should be remembered more often.
