Qklal loma OKs Drug Executions United Press International OKLAHOMA CITY Oklahoma has become the first state to approve using lethal injections to execute con-demned criminals. Gov. David Boren yesterday signed the bill to replace the electric chair with lethal drug injection. Sponsors of the measure said lethal drugs are more humane than the electric chair and called the latter a "violent" method that wbuld encourage more violence. Opponents contended lethal drugs would not provide as much deterrence to crime as electrocution.

Boren signed the lethal drug execution bill less than 24 hours after the legislature had given final ap proval. The new law will take effect 90 days after legislative adjourn-' ment, expected in early June. Several other states have been considering drug injections for executions. Two More Sought. Measles Epidemic Sparks Criticism United Press International ATLANTA A federal health ex pert today blamed a virtual na tionwide epidemic of measles on the large number of children susceptible to the disease and poor enforcement of. immunization laws at the state and loCal levels. Donald Millar, head of the Bureau of State Services at the na tional Center for Disease pontrol said there has been a 57 per cent increase in measles cases so far this year compared to 1976. Postal Service Seeks AMA- Suit The Associated Press 0 WASHINGTON A dispute between the American Medical Associa-tign and the U.S. Postal Service over back postage owed by the association is likely to end up in court.1 i 5 The Postal Service, after failing to get the AMA to agree on how much postage was overdue for mailings of its weekly journal, asked the Justice Department to file suit. Arthur S. Cahn, assistant general counsel for the Postal Service, said the AMA agrees that it underpaid its postal bills by at least $400,000 but the precise amount is in dispute.
