(UP1) Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau married a pretty brunette nearly 30 yesrs hi? junior yesterday in a surprise wedding. The couple left immediately on a skiing honeymoon. Trudeau, 51, a bachelor with an eye for pretty girls and a reputation as an indefatiguable swinger, married Margaret Sinclair, 22, the daughter of James Sinclair, a prominent businessman, former minister of fisheries and a longtime leader in the Liberal Party Trudeau now heads. The announcement of the marriage came as a surprise to most Canadians.

"He was here at 1 o'clock for the cabinet meeting," Secretary of State Gerard Pelletier said in Ottawa. The Trudeaus left for a skiing honeymoon at Alta Lake at the foot of the popular Whistler Mountain ski complex, about 100 miles north of Vancouver. Jack Bright, area manager for Whistler, said the couple was expected to stay for an indefinite period. The parents of the bride said the wedding was so secret that their other four daughters did not know about it until 90 minutes before the ceremony. Trudeau, who had not been married before, gained the nick name "the playboy prime minister" for his dates with such well-known women such as singer Barbra Streisand and French- Canadian actress Louise Marleau.

Trudeau's relationship with Miss; Sinclair was unknown to most Canadians, although an aunt of the bride said the couple had been seeing each other for three years. The wedding ceremony was quiet and limited to members of i both families. It was conducted by Father Swinkells at St. vess Roman Catholic Church in Vancouver. After the ceremony, the couple attended what was disguised as a dinner celebrating the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the bride's father in Canada.

The Trudeaus left the dinner for their honeymoon. Mrs. Trudeau was" the second youngest of five daughters. Her aunt said she studied sociology and political science at Simon Fraser University and was interested in skin diving and weaving. Her sister, Rosalind Sinclair, was bridesmaid and Trudeau's brother Charles was best man.

Trudeau was first elected to the Parliament in 1965 and quickly advanced hi politics, becoming head of the Liberal Party in 1968 and being elected prime minister later that same year.
