The books, which must be in good condition, will be turned over to Greek schools and libraries. Paperback books or magazines are not acceptable. Types of books needed include American history, American literature, biographies, technical books, and books on science, the arts, law and political government. Books may be taken to the Janton Realty, 1068 N.

Weather Bureau 2 Bad Check Writers Get Probation Two bad check writers with no previous felony records were granted probation in Superior Court yesterday. They were Thomas Lee Hall, 19, of North Lima, Ohio, who was placed on probation for four years, and Emery C. Drake, 34, of 2343 E. 19th who drew a two-year suspended term. Judge John F.

Molloy told Drake that the bad check conviction was "the only mar upon an otherwise good record. "It's a shame you had to ruin it with such foolishness," he added. Drake was accused of pass- in" three checks, totaling S285, on no account at, a local bank in -October. He pleaded guilty to the first count and the other two. charges were dismissed.

Hall pleaded guilty to passing a $38 forged check at the Golden Pin Lanes on Jan. 6. He also admitted passing two other checks at local stores last month. Ted Takes Job, Poses A Problem BOSTON UPI Edward (Ted) Kennedy, the President's youngest brother, took over today as the lowest paid assistant district attorney in Suffolk County history. The pay $l-a-year--was so low, in fact, that State Comptroller Joseph Alecks was mystified as to how Kennedy would be paid.

The job normally carries a $5,000 annual salary but young Kennedy said when sworn in yesterday he preferred to waive the entire amount. Woman Sues Gas Station For Injuries A woman who says she was injured when one of the wheels of the truck she was driving fell off has sued for $100,000 service station that allegeSy: changed the tire. Fountain, who filed the suit in Superior Court, names as defendant Rex McKenzie, as operator of the Humble Service Station at 6402 Nogales Hwy. The complaint says that she drove the truck into the station last Apr. 10 and had one of the tires changed. It further alleges that the was done in such a negligent manner that the wheel came off a mile from the station and Mrs. Fountain was injured.

She asks $100,000 for injuries, medical balls and loss of earnings. Atty. Martin S. Rogers prepared the complaint. Realtors WiU Hear Batka "The Realtors' Role in the Community" will be discussed by Matt Batka at the Tucson Board of Realtors meeting tomorrow noon at the Tidelands Motor Inn.

Batka has been chosen to address the meeting in honor of his retirement from the office of regional vice president of NAREB, an office which no real estate man in Tucson has held before. He also will receive a a designating him "Realtor of the Year," a title voted him at a recent ing of the organization, Catalina Alumnus On College Honor Roll Burdette A. Bee, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. James L.

Bee, of 2537 N. Sparkman is on the Dean's Honor Roll at Kansas State College, Pittsburg, Kan. Bee, a 1957 graduate of Catalina High School, plans to teach when he is graduated in the spring. He is majoring in linotype operation and journalism and is associate editor of his school newspaper. For several years Bee was a carrier for the Citizen.

Interested only in trial experience. Alecks said that under the law Kennedy had to be paid or he couldn't work and the young attorney then decided to take one dollar for his efforts. This created new problems for Alecks. "Do we break his salary up into eight monthly payments like all the other assistant district attorneys or do we pay him the whole year's salary at once?" Alecks asked. He also noted that the state's fiscal year ends on June 30.

"How do we break up his pay for the remaining five months of the year? We can't pay him the whole dollar because he won't have worked a full year," Alecks said. Kennedy will not try any cases until he gains experience under the direction of veteran attorneys for the county, according to his superior Dist. Atty. Garrett H. Byrne.

Two Youths Held For Pima Court Two youths accused of stealing articles from a car at a bowling alley last week waived preliminary hearing in Justice Court and were ordered held for Superior Court action. They are Joe G. Amparano, 20, of 3631 E. Bronson and Robert Del Castillo, 18, of 126 E. Palmdale St.

The youths are charged with first-degree burglary. They were bound over by Justice of the Peace Alice N. Truman. Police said the two were spotted going through parked cars at the Cactus Bowl parking lot, E. 29th St.
