John was a dear friend to many. John was also a big fan of the New York Yankees and Frank Sinatra. John proudly served his country as a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He was a life member of the American Legion Wayne Wright Post 1052 and a life time member of the Holy Name Society of St.

21, 1937 in Grand Forks, ND. She worked as a Certified Histotechnician specializing in Electron Microscopy. Katherine moved to Chicago in 1957 to work for the Hektoen Institute and later worked for the Pathology Department of the University of Chicago. Katherine retired and came to Grand Forks, ND to care for her father but maintained her residency in Chicago. Katherine was active with Stonecroft Ministries, a member of 4th Presbyterian Church and later attended Willow Creek Church of Chicago.

Katherine married Raymond Balsen in 1971in Chicago. He died Feb. 21, 1987. A Celebration of Life Service for Katherine will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in University Lutheran Church of Grand Forks, ND.

Armbrustspent decades contributing to his hometown of Wheaton, both as a volunteer to many organizations and public bodies and as a business owner who ran the family plumbing company that his father founded in 1918. Mr. Armbrust, 81, died of cancer Thursday, June 25, in his home of 53 years. Born in Wheaton, Mr. Armbrust graduated from St.

Michael Schooland Wheaton High School. He later attended Morningside Col- legein Sioux City, Iowa, and Arizona State University. In 1951, shortly after marrying his wife, Vada, he began working with his father, the Wheaton-based plumbing business, now known as Armbrust Plumbing Heat- ingand in its third generation of family ownership. Beginning in his 20sand continuing throughout his life, Mr. Armbrust immersed himself in community activities in Wheaton.

From 1956 until 1984, he volunteered with the St. Michael School sports program, and along the way helped to organize and establish the DuPage Parochial League. Mr. Armbrust also served on the Wheaton Park District Board from 1965 until 1971, the Wheaton Public Library Board from 1974 until 1977, and the St. Michael Cemetery Board for the last several decades.
