He was the featured speaker last night at the Tucson Combined Jewish Appeal Men's Community Dinner at Congregation Anshei Israel Earlier, over a lunch of whole wheat toast, two soft boiled eggs and tea upon Ms arrival at Tucson International Airport, he said what the world needs now great rebirth, a return to spiritual values. "We know more and more about less and less," Kolitz said. "The spirit is dead. Today, religion bypasses the spirit It is ofly institutionalized.

"This same thing shows in the fine arts in the theater, movies, painting. They are strangled theater is on its way to destruction. It has exhausted all media and has no place to go. So it-is returning to old themes, nostalgia. And this is not the answer.

iTlaywrights today have nothing to offer but the accumulation of frustrations and darkness. The theater has been debased. It no longer expresses any of the higher meanings. Position Filled At Continental Special to the Citizen CONTINENTAL Walte Ormsby Jr. has been appointed the Continental School Board to replace Dr. Arthur A. Wellck who moved from Green Valley to Sun City.

Ormsby is a graduate of Tuc son schools and has been a resi dent of Continsmtal two years He attended fee University Arizona and Northern Arizona University. Ormsby will be sworn March 9. Meanwhile he is busy co-writing a new play, "Certificate of Authority," with Dore Shary, who will later produce the drama on Broadway.

"I believe there is a great quest for wisdom in the world today," he said. "People everywhere are dying of spiritual thirst. There are too many disruptive forces loose in the world. I don't feel that we are facing happy days. I think it will get worse before the tide turns.

"The return to spiritual values is best expressed in the works of Herman Hesse. He is typical of this trend. That is why he is now such popular reading with the frustrated young." Kolitz himself has written a book, published last year, on the spiritual crisis, "Survival For What?" "I believe strongly there is going to be a tremendous trend toward the non-empirical," he said. "It is already showing in Europe. This desire to define the finer sides of life is small, but it is there.
