Ted learned to fly in his teens and continued to fly all his life. His last flight was at Oshkosh the week of his death. Ted joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor and served his country in the Pacific during WWII. Upon returning to the states he set up Koston Studio on Grand Ave. in Chicago; many local families had their wedding pictures taken by Ted.

His specialty, however, was air-to-air photography and his photos have been published around the world. Ted was inducted into the Illinois Aviation Hall of Fame in 1994. He was also inducted into the EAA Oshkosh Hall of Fame in 2001; many of his pictures are on display in the museum there. He was also active in many aviation clubs and had recently joined the United Flying Octogenarians. Ted was fortunate to have spent a lifetime in a career marrying his two lifelong passions, photography and aviation.

His love of his work, his zeal for aviation, and his ability to make strangers feel welcome will all be missed. Visitation Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Forest Park.

Funeral Service Thursday, Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church at Central and Harrison in Chicago. Friends and family are asked to meet at the Church. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery.

Richard and Alene are residents of Golden Beach, FL and Glencoe, IL.

Richard was in business many years in Chicago, where he was an owner of Acme Valve and Fittings Co. He was in business with his father, Albert Fishbein and his brother Robert Fishbein, he never had a disagreement with either. A graduate of Hyde Park High School in Chicago and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Richard was proud of his service in WWII, where he was a cadet in the Army Air Corps Meteorology Division. The greatest joys in his life were his nine children and their families totaling 25 grand-children.

Richard participated in every event and occasion in their lives. This is what he lived for. Richard leaves his wife, Alene, born in Fort Wayne, IN; son, Thomas (Claudia) and their four children, Robin, Benjamin, Teddy (Tiffany) and Allison; daughter, Sue Ann and her daughter, Esther Rose; daughter, Sally (Daniel) Marver and their children, Todd and Jodi; daughter, Ellen (Charles Schoof) and their son, Michael, son John (Mary Beth) and their children Philip, Dr. Anna (Dr. Jonathan Samet), Sarah and Kevin; daughter, Nancy (Jerry Blitz) and her children, Elisa and Paul Heiken; and their children Jackson and Jimmy Blitz, son Dr.

Mark (Margie); and their children Katie, Ellie, Joey and Tricia; daughter-in-law, Lynne (wife of deceased son, Daniel) and daughter, Annie; daughter Peggy (Steven Goldstein) and children, Jacob, Julian, Max and Mason. Dick was most devoted and loving son of his wonderful parents, Belle Escol Fishbein and Albert Fishbein. He was extremely close to his brother, Robert (the late Bettie) Fishbein of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and brother-in-law of the late Lee M. (the late Marillyn) Loeser and her husband, Hubert F.
