Warwick, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Maybelle Lee Hughes, to Loyd Glen Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ernest Boyd of Newport News. Miss Hughes was graduated from Warwick High School and, attended the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, and Long-wood College, Farmville. Mr.

John H. Gray officiated at the double ring ceremony before a background of palms, white flowers and lighted tapers. Howard Scammon played the wedding music. George Pitts of Williamsburg sang "1 he Lords Prayer" and "Because." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full-length, gown of white Chantilly lace over satin fashioned with fitted bodice, portrait neckline edged with seed pearls, long sleeves tapered to points over the hands and full skirt of lace over satin, which ended in a circular train. Her fingertip-length veil of illusion was arranged with Chantilly lace and outlined with seed pearls.

She carried a cascade bouquet of stephanotis and ivy with a white orchid center. Miss Shirley Johnson of Williamsburg was maid of honor and wore a full-length gown of green taffeta. The strapless bodice featured a stole and gathered with bows around a full skirt. The bridesmaids. Miss Shirley Baker, Williamsburg, cousin of the bride, and Miss Dolly White, Princess Ann, were dressed in yellow made identical to the maid of honor's dress.

They all wore matching headbands with a small veil, short white gloves and carried-bouquets of cascading yellow marfuerite daisies and ivy. Miss Rebecca Thrall of Toano, niece of bride, was junior bridesmaid. Sidney Jennings, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and gToomsmen were Richard Thrall, Toano, and William Thrall. S. Marine Corps, Quantico, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Robert Edward Elliott of Aberdeen Road, Hampton. Chaplain Harold Whitlock officiated before a setting of palms, white lilies, gladioli and snapdragons. Valerie Early plaved the wedding music and Miss Jo Ann Rogen sang "At Dawning. "The Lord's Prayer" and "Through the Years." A white floor-length Chantilly lace gown over satin was worn by the bride, who was given in marriage by her father.

The dress was fashioned with a lace appliqued bodice and full skirt which ended in a cathedral train. Her two-tiered fingertip-length veil of imported silk illusion was arranged with a Mary Queen of Scots bonnet trimmed with French iridescents. She carried an imported lace fan centered with a white orchid and stephanotis tied with white satin ribbon streamers. Miss Shirley McNeal, Hampton, maid of honor, wore pastel pink net over taffeta with lace jacket and the full skirt forming rows of shirred ruffles. The bridesmaids, Miss Betsy Elliott, Miss Carole Manley, Miss Sue Amory and Miss Joan Clemens of Hampton, wore aqua net made identical to the honor attendant's dress.

They all wore matching Juliet hats of satin and carried fans of imported Jace showered with Frenched carnations in pink and aqua. James Clayton Odell of Hampton was best man and the groomsmen were James Edward Jones, Guy Smith, William Kelly Jones and Douglas Oscar Royals. Mrs. William McCallum III of Hampton was mistress of ceremonies. A reception was held at the Non-Commissioned Officers Club, Langley Air Force Base.

Serving were Mrs. F. R. Burch, Mrs. James McNeal, Miss Barbara Smitn and Miss Gail Diggs.

Mrs. Van Landingham, mother of the bride, wore a Claudia Young original dress of beige Paisley print with beige duster and natural accessories. Mrs. Elliott, mother of the bridegroom, was dressed in navy blue faille street-length dress with navy duster and pink and navy accessories. They both wore corsages of pink orchids.

After a northern trip, Mr. and Mrs." Elliott will make their home, 415 Glendale Road, Hampton. The bride traveled in a Maier original suit of beige gabardine. Her accessories were coffee frost and her hat was of white straw. ''Of (0n Elmondi Studio) Miss Sylvia Maxine Hoyden's betrothal to SSgt.

B. Curtis of Ga. Mr. Coppersmith is the son of Mr. and Mts.

George Williams of Westover Road, Brandon Heights, Warwick. Miss Curtis was graduated from Warwick High School and the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg. Mr. Coppersmith was graduated from Newport News High School, the Apprentice School, Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock and is now a member of the junior class, North Carolina State College. a Wallace Hicks, probation officer for the City of Hampton, will be the speaker at the April meeting of the Woman's Club of Phoebus, Monday at 8 in the evening at the clubhouse on Hope Phoebus. Mrs. B. Larrabee Carr will preside. Mr.

Hicks will discuss the growth and development of daffodils in this section. He will exhibit specimen flowers, charts and posters and will be assisted by Alexander Villers II, art instructor at the Buckroe Junior High School. Mrs. C. E.

Patton, first vice-president, is in charge of the program and will introduce Mr. Hicks. Mrs. J. W.

Price and Mrs. George Peake, delegates to the Tidewater District meeting held at Virginia Beach, will give a report on the meeting. Mrs. h. F.

McCaffrey, representative of the club on the planning commission for the Dixie Hospital, will report on the progress of this project. Mrs. Harriet Turner will read her poem, which won second place at the district meeting. Hostesses for the evening will be Mrs. McCaffrey, chairman, Mrs.

Miss Ashburn was graduated from Mathews High School and is now a member of the senior class, School of Nursing, Riverside Hospital, Newport News. Mr. Genier was graduated from Granville High School, Gran-vflfc, N. Y. He served two years with the U.
