Marceau, considered to be the world's greatest living exponent of the art of mime, will make his American film acting debut in de- scribed as a classic shocker in the genre of the master filmmakers. In Marceau portrays Malcolm, a deaf-mute puppeteer who plays with life and death. It's a tour-deforce role that will evoke the memory of Lon Chaney, the immortal "man of a thousand faces." The world-renowned mime just completed a record-breaking tour in the United States, where he performed his one-man show in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago In 1956, on location at Big Sur. Arthur Penn will direct, and Robert M.

Sherman will produce the original screenplay by Alan Sharp. The film is scheduled to start this fall on locations in Southern California and the Florida Keys. Bruce Dern has been signed for a starring role opposite Kirk Douglas in "Posse," a Bryna Production for Paramount Pictures.
