Olflcg furniture end furnishings. Inven through, under, or against any such de ments show the gnats do not emerge from the pupae as adults until some kind of internal signal is given.

This signal can be triggered by a flash of light in the laboratory. So a light will be flashed in the spacecraft at different times for the four groups of pupae to see if the gnats emerge in the same time period they do on earth. Arabella and Anita, a pair of 6-month-old common cross spiders, will be enclosed in a glass cage where they will try to spin their webs as they float in weightlessness. Judith Miles, 17, one of 19 high school students whose experiments were selected for the Skylab mission, came up with the idea for the spiders. "I thought it would be interesting to see how weightlessness would affect their web weaving," she said.

She said the spiders on earth use two organs on the forelegs to determine the direction of gravity so they can drop from a high point to a lower elevation to start the structure of the web, which traps their food. "A spider needs a web for survival. It is instinctive she said. "So the spider is really going to try to build a web. I want to see if the instincts of the spider are able to overcome the lack of gravity." The astronauts will photograph the spiders from time to time to record their progress.

By studying the photographs, Judith said, "we can determine the deviation from normal. We will be able to count the number of radii in each direction, the angles and the length and width of the frame of the web." Before launching, each spider will be fed a fly, enough food to last several weeks. Two flies will be taken up by the astronauts and fed to the insects' at some point in the mission. The astronauts also will photograph and take movies of minnows in a small tank of water. Going into space will be two inch-long minnows and SO eggs intended to hatch in orbit.

"We expect the minnows to swim in spirals instead of a straight line," said Dr. Richard Simmons, a space agency scientist. "If so, we will verify ground-based studies that water immersion is not totally gravity free." dar months from the date of the first publication of this notice. Most will be aboard in the interest of science, to determine how space weightlessness affects various functions.

The flies will be fed to the spiders. They will be packed in the Apollo ferry ship when astronauts Alan L. Bean, Dr. Owen K. Garriott and Jack R.

Lousma are launched toward the orbiting Skylab station for a record 59 days in space. The six mice, each about the size of a man's thumb and the gnats will be monitored by experts on the ground seeking to learn if a body's circadian rhythm is upset by the change in environment. Circadian designates the behavioral or physiological rhythms associated with the 24-hour cvr.les of 'he earth's rotation. In man, circadian rhythms such as glandular, metabolic and sleep often are upset by moving quickly between time zones the so-called "jet lag." Dr. Robert Lindberg, one of the experiment's investigators, said that generally individuals become tired, irritable and do not perform as efficiently when their biological clock gets out of beat.

Besides travel, he said, the rhythm can be upset by such things as emotional upsets or when a person works irregular hours or otherwise alters his routine. "We want to do a lot more biology experiments on future space flights," Lindberg explained. "If weightlessness affects circadian rhythms it will be much more difficult. We hope to find that the circadian rhythm is stable in weightlessness so we won't have to worry about artificial gravity." Lindberg said signals sent to earth on body temperatures and activities of the mice will determine if there is a change. The mice, he said, tend to operate on a 23-hour, 45-minute day, waking up IS minutes earlier each day after a six-hour sleep period.

WARREN, one of the ludges of the above styled court on Ft. Lauderdale, Broward County, himself by taking flying lessons and earning a pilot's license. He was selected as a spaceman in 1965 and the space agency taught him to fly jets. Garriott said his flying skill may not be as sharp as some of the pilot-astronauts, but calls himself a "safe" pilot who can "get up and down without breaking anything. The astronaut is married to the former Helen Mary Walker, an Enid girl who was his high school "steady." There are four Garriott children: Randall, 18; Robert, 16; Richard, 12, and Linda, 6.

They live in a comfortable neighborhood near the Johnson Space Center. Randall and Robert, said Garriott, are interested in flying and are planning soon to work toward their pilots licenses. The astronaut and his sons often work out together, running for exercise at a nearby track. Garriott runs four miles several times a week and is able to cover the distance routinely in 29 minutes. Garriott is a thin, lanky man, standing 5 feet, 8 inches.

He dresses in conservative suits and talks in the patient, scholarly fashion one would expect of an ex-professor. He'll be the first man to go into space wearing a moustache. The astronaut grew the gray-flecked moustache during a jungle survival training course and said he's kept it since "just for the fun of it" the 2 st day ot August, A.D., 1973, at Florida, I will offer for sale and sell to o'clock, a.m., in Broward county court. the highest bidder for cash, In hand, the house Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Its application for an Order of Taking in accor above described property, as the property of said defendant to satisfy said Execu PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that suit lor United Press International CAPE KENNEDY Results of medical tests on the first Skylab crew have given doctors confidence that the next space station astronauts will have no major health problems on their record 59-day mission. Astronauts Alan L.

Bean, Owen K. Garriott and Jack R. Lousma are to blast off tomorrow on their orbital research journey. In briefings yesterday, the space physi-cians said numerous minor physical changes were detected during the first crew's 28-day mission, but the pilots' had returned to normal by three weeks after their stay in weightlessness. The doctors have concurred with the first Skylab's crew's recommendation that the next space fliers do more physical exercise, to counteract the fact few muscles are given a workout in the absence of gravity.

"We've pursued a rather active exercise program for a good many months," Skylab 2 science-pilot Garriott said recently. "That is what we want to continue to do when we're in flight." The chief astronaut physician, Dr. Roycs Hawkins, said he can't "sit down and list specifics" that would cause mission officials to tell the crewmen to cut their trip short and return home before the 59 days are up. The crew's health will be evaluated attire end of every week during the second half of the flight, and a decision made whether the mission should be continued. "It's a 'real time' decision," Hawkins said.

"It depends on a lot of things. You have to take the man and look at him in his entirety. We feel confident we can fly another 28-day mission. But we have three dif- dance with its Declaration of Taking ferent individuals and we may very well see different things occurring." Another researcher studying the effect of weightlessness on the human body, Dr. Michael Whittle of the Johnson Space Center, said the weight loss the first crew experienced "is a pure and simple adaptation to weightlessness.

"We have data that suggests the amount of muscle did drop considerably," Whittle said. "All of the weight loss can be accounted for by the fact they just don't need as much muscle up there in weightless conditions. The physician said the muscle loss in zero gravity can't be halted, and while the astronauts could improve their physical condition by exercising, they would have to spend the whole mission doing only that to completely avoid the loss. Whittle added, however, that the loss of calcium the mineral that helps keep stiffness in the bones during the first crew's flight was "far less than one per cent. "This sort of rate of loss would have to occur for something like a year before we'd even begin to get worried about man breaking bones," he said.

"This isn't a problem for Skylab but may be a problem when we get to Mars." Dr. Phillip Johnson of Baylor College of Medicine, another Skylab researcher, reported a 14 per cent drop in the red blood cell level of the first crew, but said that was related to the less of muscle mass. Johnson added that for some unknown reason, the hormone aldosterone, secreted from the adrenal glands, increases in the weightless state, and is responsible for a nearly normal level of blood plasma. a tion, subiect to any and ell prior Hens. dissolution of marriage has been institut heretofore filed in this cause.
