The Family Tree By HUGH S. WATSON JR. Setott. The blazonry of this Schott family arms is not known to us. However, we have some data on the Pennsylvania family which used this arms.

The family is connected with the Brewster family of New England and the Sill family of Connecticutt. The line we have is as follows: Naomi Sill, born 1754 and died 1828, married in the year 1780, Capt. John P. Schott, who was born in 1744 and died in 1829. He came to America from Germany prior to 1776.

He gave his service during the American Revolution, having had a colorful career in the armed service. He served prior to coming to America with the army of Frederick the Great. When. he did come to America he offered his services to the Continental Army and was imme- dietly given the commission of captain, which was signed by John Hancock, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. After the Revolution, he was elected to the Legislature of Pennsylvania in 1787 and was later appointed Justice of the Peace for Wilkes Barre, Pa.

from 1791 to 1804. He and Naomi had, Dr. George Sill Schott was born 1785 and died in 1863. Dr. Schott married in the year 1816, Eleanor Twambley, who was born in 1791 and died in 1855.

They had, Charles Mandeville Schott, who was born in 1818 and died in 1889. He married in 1845, Elizabeth Potter, who was born in 1820 and died in 1909. They had, Charles Mandeville Schott Jr. who was born 1846 and died 1919. He was a very prominent business man.

He married Elizabeth Noyes. CEMETERY PUBLICATION "CEMETERY INSCRIPTION, RICHLAND COUNTY, ILLINOIS" is the name of the publication now being prepared for publication by November. The compiler is Mrs. Barbara J. Craddock.

who has done considerable work in the field of genealogy. Over 15,000 inscriptions have been carefully transcribed and will include surname, given name, date of birth, date of death, age and family relationship. Particular attention was paid to those individuals who performed military service. Although epitaphs were omitted, all other data of genealogical interest is shown verbatim. Every effort was made to cover the county thoroughly.

The county's largest cemetery, Haven Hill, located in Olney, the county seat of Richland Couty (Illinois), was divided into sections as the stones were read. This was done both for convenience of the compiler and as an aid to the reader, should he wish to locate a particular grave. A comprehensive plat was considered a necessary addition. All cemeteries are alphabetized and are indexed as to the name or names by which they are known. There are nine townships in the county and a plat will precede the data relative to each township showing the location of each cemetery, whether it is a onegrave family plot or one where hundreds are buried.

The compiler, Mrs. Craddock, is a native and resident of Richland County. She feels that many years of compiling and indexing court records qualifies her to offer this service to historians and genealogists. She is proud to present this, the first record of its kind from Richland County, during the year that State of Illinois is celebrating its Sesquicentennial. The work will appear in one volume of about 250 pages, cloth bound.

This is available for $12.50 to those who order in advance of the Nov. 1, 1968 publication date. After July 30, copies will be $15.00 while the supply lasts. Postage and packing charges are included in the pre-publication price of $12.50. Copies may be obtained by writing Mrs.

Barbara J. Craddock, 2 Hunley Drive. Olney, 62450. When contacting Mrs. Craddock please give your full name and address with Zip Code number.
