What's your choice? According to a recent Gallup poll, the typical American citizen's choice in all categories is New York City. Fun City is still fun, at least in the view of the people who do not live mere. And, according to the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau, here are the IS things in New York that visitors most often want information about, and most often visit, in this order: The Empire State Building; the Statue of Liberty; the United Nations; Rockefeller Center; Lincoln Center; the great museums; sporting events; Times Square; theater, night clubi and TV shows; houses of worship; sightseeing cruises; the stock exchanges; shopping; hotels, and restaurants.

The Visitors' Bureau has an information center in mid-Manhattan, at 90 East 42nd Street, 10017, across the street from the main entrance of Grand Central Station. It's open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has all sorts of guides and maps available free. Or, you can write to the bureau and get them by mail.

The restaurant and hotel lists are helpful, as are the quarterly brochures that list all events coming up in the city. DRACULA TOUR Some tours are just too much. This one sounds like fun, in a weird way: there's a tour that left this past Friday (the 13th) for a Dracula tour of Transylvania. The group will spend 18 days looking at the Rumanian landmarks made famous by the Dracula legend. Everyone seems to want more tourists, or almost everyone.

Some Floridians are now saying we'd be better off without so many extra people around to tax our water, sewer and power supplies and wear out our roads. And in Fiji, the prime minister says he's glad the tourist boom on his pretty little Pacific island is slowing down. "We don't want to become like Hawaii and Tahiti," said Sir Kamisese Mara, the prime minister, indicating their "island charm" is much diluted by tourist trappings. For those who get psyched over spiritual waves, there's a Psychic Caribbean Cruise scheduled on the S.S. Canberra June 2, out of Nw York.

The cruise will feature a free program of psychic lectures and demonstrations conducted by leading experts in psychic and occult subjects. It's an eight-day Caribbean cruise, and the press release doesn't say whether any ghosts or spirits will be aboard.
