Road facility will not be ready for occupancy in July as expected because of a late start on renovating the building. facility will be used by the county-to house prisoners charged with, misdemeanor, and some felonies. It will accommodate up to 150 inmates and is expected to ease the crowded at the County JaiL The delay was due to a city and, county dispute over a contract, authorizes. the county to use the building.

The agreement was rewritten several times before the Board of Supervisors and City Council endorsed it. Some of the dispute centered on who, would pay for the renovation costs and what type of prisoners would be housed at the facility. The cOunty finally agreed to pay up to $25,000 for renovation and the city agreed to allow the housing of some felony prisoners there along with inmates accused of misdemeanors.
