Moore joins Sal Artlaga. elected last week to a 4-year term as NAPBL president, replacing Johnny Johnson. who died Jan. 21. Debbie Aitchison, 28, who has served as assistant general manager, executive assistant general manager and associate general manager, replaces Moore. OFF THE SHELF AFTER MISSING two starts In the Osceola Astros' rotation because of a tender elbow, right-hander Sam August was scheduled to start Wednesday against Baseball City. Righthander Ryan Bowen, the Astros' No. 1 pick in the June 1986 free-agent draft, returned Monday after a one-day trip to Houston to have a sore shoulder examined by team physician Dr. Bill Bryan. DARK ENDING THE ASTROS' game Tuesday In Winter Haven was suspended after four innings when lights at Chain O'Lakes Stadium failed to work. The game will be completed on May 18 as the first part of a doubleheader at Winter Haven. Game one will be nine innings, game two seven innings. WHO'S HOT TAMPA TARPONS Dan Rohrmeler and Carl Sullivan lead FSL hitters with .371 averages. Baseball City's Brian McRae is third (.356). Osceola's team batting average (.276) is tops among the 14-team league. Osceola's Karl Rhodes leads the FSL with 17 stolen bases. Each team had at least 10 victories and no one had lost more than 14. The Orlando Twins are one of three teams to go 13-12, which gave the O-Twins a share of first 'place in the East Division. O-Twins reliever German Gonzalez leads the league with seven saves. The O-Twins continue to iead the league in hitting but are last in pitching, allowing more than five runs per game. D OPEN MARKET MILTON SANDERFORD, director of marketing the past 2 years for the O-Twins, is leaving the club after work Friday. Sanderford, 55, said he has two offers for employment in Orlando and another In Virginia Beach, Va., where he worked 13 years before coming to Florida. General Manager Jamie Lowe is interviewing for a successor. FAME GAME WHEN THE Atlanta Braves send a scout to see their Greenville farm team, it's usually a Hall of Famer. The Orlando Twins held off a late rally by the Birmingham Barons on Wednesday night for a 6-5 victory in Southern League play. The Barons scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jerry Bertolani's two-run single highlighted the uprising. Orlando scored three runs in the fifth and ninth innings. In the ninth, Chris Forgione scored on a forceout. Chip Hale drove in the second run with a single and scored on Bernardo Brito's triple. The teams play again tonight and Friday. The O-Twins then move on to Knoxville before returning home a week from today. Baseball City 4, Osceola 2 KISSIMMEE Sean Berry's two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning gave Baseball City a victory over Osceola.
