It was a gay, happy go lucky, attractive lot. the milling, good naturcd crowd attending Saturday opening of Gulfstream Park Race Track, well named Broward Day. Browardites streamed in from the highways by the hundreds. It was a far better dressed crowd than observed on previous race days. The new pink fuchsia almost an American beauty shade; the green that's as soft as apple green and more subtle than Kelly, deep violet purple and Hacienda red hues mingled with all-white costumes and dove gray outfits to make splashes of color from paddock to clubhouse terrace where fur coats were doffed unceremoniously as the sun shone down.

Suit coats were either extremely short, verging on Eton jacket length, or exaggeratedly long, 'way below the hipline. Hats were mostly tiny, or missing entirely from the picture, although the "witch hat" with its high peaked crown and widish brim was much in evidence. Decided pet was the high crowned turban type with feather or glitter ornament. Decorative combs, not flowers or feathers, kept sleek hair does in place.
