''V DAILY PKfcSS, Newport News, Sunday, Sept. 23, IM CHANNEL 33 EXCLUSIVELY lew TV Station On Air Monday on 104 NORFOLK Tidewater's new TV station goes on the air Monday. WTVZ, Channel 33 (Channel 8 on cable) starts the day. at 6 a.m. with a wide variety of programs.

Movies, situation comedies, cartoons, sports, religion, and specials comprise the programming, planned to offer an alternative for Tidewater viewers. Shows are selected to give audiences something different from programs scheduled on other channels. Highlights of WTVZ's Premiere Week in clude such specials as "David Frost Presents The Guinness Book of World Records," The National Geographic Series episode on Alaska, the premiere of the highly-acclaimed first -run series "Edward The King," "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau the Redskins Sidelines, and Jeff Dane's "Great Outdoors." Prime time movies kick off with "El Dorado" and continue with "Death Of A Gun-fighter," "P.J." and others. Early evening hours are filled with reruns of situation come dies like "I Dream Of Jeannie," "Good Times," "Sanford and Son" and the "The Odd Couple." For late night viewers, there's Perry Mason. An additional highlight expected to generate a large viewing audience marks the return of Dick Lamb, one of the most popular local personalities.

Lamb will be featured with a new 30-minute talk show. (Complete schedules for WTVZ will run every day in The Daily Press) Dane Wins Sportsman Award Concert Saturday NORFOLK The first annual "Virginia Sports THE BEE GEES STORY Sunday, Sept. 23 man of the Year" award was presented to Jeff Dane of WTVZ-33 at the Norfolk In -The-Water Boat Show. Dane, Tidewater's most well, known fisherman, hosted "The Tackle Box" for 17 years and starting Friday begins a new show, "Jeff Dane's Great Outdoors," at 8:30 p.m. on WTVZ.

NORFOLK The Old Dominion University Activities Programming Board will sponsor a concert Saturday featuring the rock band Face Dancer. The five-member group will perform with the Single Bullet Theory at 9 p.m. in ODU's Webb Center. Face Dancer, which made its album debut in May with the release of "This World," has been performing on the East Coast since 1977. The group, which includes Chesapeake native Scott McGinn, has appeared alongside such artists as Desmond Child and Rouge, Robert Palmer and Patti Smith.
