Eastern South Dakota Oyer With Huron, Aberdeen In Second By The Associated Press South Dakota's "lee bowl' football season has only another week to run with one big piece of business still on deck: Slack Hills Teachers vs.

Mines. The Western part of the state will be hoping for what it calls Its "banana belt" type of weather to return before that contest next Monday at Rapid City. Otherwise, South Dakota university has wrapped away the North Central title and activity is pretty much completed in the Eastern South Dakota circuit Until last weekend, it appeared the Black Hills-Mines game would feature two of the nation's unbeaten and untied teams. Black Hills was stunned by a 20-0 defeat at the hands of the Scotts-bluff Junior college. Outcome Debatable And what will that mean when Black Hills meets Mines? Well, Mines supporters think it looks a little easier than it did before.

Against that, Black Hills rooters say it will only make their outfit just that much tougher for the big intercollegiate conference title match. Gridiron work, left to do by other boutn Dakota college outfits includes four tilts this Saturday. Two are by North Central elevens, with xvortn Dafcota visiting South Dakota and South Dakota State entraining for La Cross Teachers. In the intercollegiate fold. Yank ton college will be at Sioux Falls college and Southern Teachers will visit Northern Teachers.

Huron college has an. ou-of-league game Friday night, in which It will entertain Dana college from Blair, Nebr. The ESD wound up its conference activity last week with Huron and Aberdeen lying for second place, as runnersup to--the previously determined champion Sioux Falls Warriors. Warriors Meet Central Only Sioux Falls and Yankton will continue play this week. The Warriors will host Sioux City Central and Yankton will have Norfolk as its guest, both on Friday.

South Dakota U. clinched the North Central crown in its 25 to 7 triumph over Iowa Teachers Saturday. Like most football games played over the weekend, the biting weather made it almost as rough on spectators as on players. One game, Augustana at North Dakota univer sity, cancelled out. Scores of other contests included: Southern Teachers 28, Huron college Yankton college 9, General Beadle Teachers Northern Teachers 34, Wesleyan Mines 6, Dickinson Teachers 0.

Ratter man Is Fined, Is Reinstated as Grid Yank Member Philadelphia, Nov.

5 (JFi Quarterback George Ratterman was reinstated as a member of the New York Yanks in the National Football League today, but fined $2,000 by NFL Commissioner Bert Bell. Bell said Ratterman was fined for "action detrimental to the welfare of the National Football League 'and of professional football" The commissioner said Ratter man was being reinstated "under his existing three-year contract," Ratterman, former Notre Dame Btar who began his pro career with Buffalo in the now defunct All-America conference, quit the Yanks last summer to play with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian provincial league. NFL and Ted Collins owner ef the Yanks, brought suit in the iTew'Jersey court seeking to enjoin from playing in Canada. But the Judge refused to continue a injunction on the ground that he did cot have sut ficient information. As a result, Ratterman was per- gutted to play with the Alouettes.

Threatened with another legal suit, Ratterman recently quit the jCaasriiau league and announced his intention to seek reinstatement in American football. Ha said then: "Things havent worked out for me In Canada as I expected. I cant seem to acclimate myself to this kind of game." Bell held a hearing fcr Ratterman on October 30 at which time, the commissioner said, "Ratterman agreed his contract with the Yanks was valid and existing." Freshman Joe Horning of COMMITTEE IS NAMED TO SET TOURNEY SITE Canistota, S.

Nov. 5 (V-A site for the 1952 state tournament of the South Dakota Amateur baseball association will probably be selected this week. Commissioners and officers of the association met here yesterday. They authorized Pres. Denny Cosgrove, Pierre, to meet with a two-man committee to select the place, for the tourney.

Cosgrove said he would meet witn N. C. Haley, Aberdeen, and George Beier, Watertown, sometime this week to make the decision. Most of the discussion at the meeting centered around tightening of amateur baseball rules. Officers favored a rule requiring that players in the association be permitted only to play with their own teams.

They indicated they would change the rules so that teams would be required to submit an accounting of their funds during the year, What Happened? Gophers Wonder Minneapolis, Nov. 5 IP) What happened? That was the big question for coaches and players alike today as Minnesota Coach Wes Fesler and his aides tried to figure out what caused the Gophers to blow a three-touchdown lead and wind up with a 20-20 tie with Iowa, The Hawkeyes, staged a l2Va minute, fourth-period surge of power and drive that brought them even with the Gophers who for three periods had flashed their best offensive and defensive games of the season. Tackle Ron Raveling summed it up this way: "They just started to run right over us. Earlier we had stopped those same plays, I guess we just had a little ltdown; that's about the only way you could explain it." 1 Fesler viewed the tie as a defeat, notwithstanding the fact that pre-game predictions of fans and "experts' alike had the Iowans one to two-touchdown favorites. "I never had any idea that we had the game in the bag even in i 1 I me mira quarter wnen we were ahead 20-0," Fesler said after the game, "but who ever figured to blow a game like this.

This really hurt."
