Guesfs PHILLIPSBURG - A group of Woodstonitea not only gat in the wrong pew but were also in the wrong church when they attended a wedding at PhiUipsburg over the weekend. The wedding of Donald McDowell, Woodston, and Reghia Blackburn, Phillipsburg, was at the Wesleyan Methodist Church, and the wedding of Bernard McCbrmick, Norton, and LaVon Scollin, Phillipsburg, was at the First Methodist Church. The Woodston group wanted to attend the McDowell - Blackburn wedding. They knew it was .at a Methodist church in PhiUipsburg Saturday evening. The group, Mr. and Mrs. Byron McDowell, the groom's aunt and uncle; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roys; Mr. At Phillipsburq and Mrs. Virgil Blecha and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hale, all of- Woodston, arrived at the First Methodist Church unaware that the ceremony they wanted to attend was at the Wesleyan church. Not until the candlelighters walked down the aisle, did members of the group realize they were at the wrong wedding. Hale said he knew the bride's mother and when "she" came down the aisle it was someone he didn't recognize. They left the First Method : st wedding and went to the Wesleyan church to find the McDowell-Blackburn wedding was over and the reception was underway. Hale said they did arrive in time for a piece of cake, however. Resort Area Is Underway At Milford Reservoir MLEORD RESERVOIR - A housing resort area is under construction in-the Curtis Creek area of Milford reservoir. Eight Chapman, Junction City and Wichita men have invested $150,000 in Thunderbird Resort Inc., which has been jncorporat ed for $300,000 capital stock. The group has a 25 - year lease with the U.S. Army COTIM of engineers. Construction work is underway just, east of the former Alida townsite. The resort area is expected to be open by late Summer when the reservoir is operational. Corporation president, Dr. L. W. Wisby, Junction City, said 45,000 cubic yards of dirt has been moved to form a long breakwater, extending into the Curtis Creek valley. An area extension specialist in 4H and other youth programs will a s s.i s t county extension agents in Clay, Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Ottawa, and Republic counties ( Dr. Harold E. Jones, director of the cooperative extension Kansas Stale university, Manhattan, said. An agreement between the county agricultural extension council chairmen and Jones was signed at a recent meeting in Concordia, making the area program a reality. "The North Central Kansas arsa program will be a pilot study," Jones explains, "and we will watch with interest the effectiveness of an area 4H specialist." 4H work, a part of the Kan sas extension service, is an educational program for youths 8 to 19 years of age. Information and materials prepared by members of the state extension staff are available to all youth groups. The use of area specialists is a trend in the Kansas extension service but the North Central 4H specialist is the first assigned to work exclusively with youth. Agricultural and home management area specialists are on duty throughout the state. His Sharp Eyes Win Him Medal FT. BRAGG, N.C. (AP)—Sgt. Ronald K. Bowman's sharp eye has won him the Army Commendation Medal. Bowman was jumpmaster for the 82nd Airborne Division when he noticed white spots on some of the parachutes to be used in a mass jump by 300 men. The jump was called off, and investigation showed the spots were cai'sed by a battery acid which had been accidentally spilled on the floor of a trucfc carrying the parachutes. Authorities said many of the damaged chutes probably would have ripped.
