Janet Jefferson, SD Evelyn Stearns Sioux Falls, SD Elaine I Luverne, MN She married Ephraim (Abe) Graf and they moved to Sioux Falls to be near the deaf school. She later married Montie M. Stearns on June 8, 1964. She worked at the Old Home Bakery for over 29 years, retiring in November, 1983. Grateful for having shared her life are her beloved husband, Montie; her daughters Janice (lim) Mitchell, Sioux Falls; Evie (Bob) Harris, Eden Prairie, MN; step-son Wayne (Jennie) Stearns, Sioux Falls; step-daughter Jackie (John) Hovey, Topeka, KS; her brother Orville (Bud) Burris, Palm Springs, CA; sister Eileen (Don) Whittlinger, Aberdeen, SD; brother-in-law Bud (Virginia) Stearns, Colorado Springs, CO; and brother-in-law Lyle Hanson, Sioux Falls.

Also surviving her are 10 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding her are her parents and a brother Harry Burris, Aberdeen and sisters-in-law Lois Burris, Palm Springs, CA, Dolly Spade, Chester area and Babe Hanson, Sioux Falls. Family visitation will be Sunday, November 6, from 2 5 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, November 7, at the Renner Lutheran Church at 2 p.m.

with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery. Evelyn Stearns Sioux Falls Evelyn M. Stearns passed away Friday, November 4, peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. Evelyn M. Burris was born November 18, 1921 in Aberdeen, to Harry and Linda (Melcher) Burris.

She attended country school through 8th grade. then took a beauty course and was a beauty operator for 12 years. Nock Valley Springs Clifton 0. Nock, Valley Springs, died Nov.

3, 2011 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls after a long illness. Clifton Oliver Nock, son of Clifton and Nellie (Ehart) Nock was born May 25, 1940 in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He graduated from Lansdowne High School in Aldan, PA in 1958. He attended Drexel University and Millersville State College. He was united in marriage with Joyce Stallsmith in Collingdale, PA on May 27, 1961.

They made their home in Secane, PA, Berlin, NJ and Lorton, VA before moving to Sioux Falls in 1978. Cliff and Joyce enjoyed country life at their acreage near Valley Springs since 1989 and had fun with friends and family at their Lake Madison home every summer. Cliff enjoyed a lifetime career with IBM as a customer engineer, teacher, and field manager. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed a second career serving on the board and as president of Sioux Valley Electric Cooper- ative.

His hobbies included golfing and boating and enjoying his cars and other toys. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters; Joy Nock and her Mazen Nemeh Sioux Falls, Lynn (Shawn) Culey, Sioux Falls and daughter Angie Nock-Hage of Castle Rock, CO: 10 grandchildren, Brooke, Lindsey and Julia Goodale, Allison and Aaron Culey, Dylan, Liam, Ethan, Elliott and Quinn Nock; a brother, Bill (Pat) Nock and sister Perry (Al) Richardson; brothers and sisters in law. We mourn his passing but celebrate a wonderful life. Cliff touched many lives through his professional and personal life. Family and friends will always remember his generous caring spirit and ability to bring friends together.

Cliff was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his son, Clif and his parents. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Avera McKennan Hospital and Dow Rummel Assisted Living for their loving care. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Granum 75, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Dougherty Hospice House on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Louise Miller Presho Louise Miller, 80, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Presho, died Thursday, November 3 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Tuesday, November 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho.

Louise Miller was born on October 21, 1931 in Presho, South Dakota, to Walter and Emma (Anderson) Hubbard. She grew up and attended school in Presho.

After graduating high school she attended the Black Hills Teaching College in Spearfish and received her teaching credential. On June 22, 1950 she married Virgil Miller they made their home in Presho where she helped Virgil on the farm and raised their family. In 2006, after living in Presho for 75 years, she and Virgil moved to Sioux Falls where they made their home until her death. She loved: spending time with her family and grandchildren, traveling and golfing. She was a member of the Christ the King Altar Society and a member of the Young Matrons.

She is survived by her husband Virgil of Sioux Falls, her children Lynda Miller of Colorado Springs, CO, Terry (Deborah) Miller of Hayfork, CA, Doug (Sara) Miller of Chesterfield. VA, Susan (Harlen) Henke of Sioux Falls, SD. Steve (Lauren) Miller of Presho, SD. Deb (Brad) Smith of Vivian, SD, and Les (Monica) Miller of Meridian, ID. She is also survived by her brothers Harold and George Hubbard and sisters Gladys Hawley and Dorothy Schwieder, nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great -grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Tim, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Jerome Jesse Montrose Jerome Jesse, 80, of Salem passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 8th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Montrose with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

A rosary and prayer service will be held at St. Patrick's on Monday at 7:00 pm. Visitation will be from 9 am 4:30 pm on Monday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem and prior to the rosary at St. Patrick's. Jerry was born on April 14, 1931 to William and Wilhelmina (Wingert) Jesse.

He attended school at St. Ann's in Humboldt. He married Patricia Gordon on January 14, 1966 in Montrose. Jerry was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Montrose.

Playing cards and fishing were the things he enjoyed most. He also loved to spend time with special friends Janice Morrison and Fred Nielson. He is survived by: his brothers, Steve (Alice) of Sioux Falls, Bill (Judy) of Sioux Falls, Vincent (Peggy) of Montrose, Raymond of Montrose, and Dave (Carla) of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Lorraine (Luverne) Mammenga of Menno, Carole (LaVerne) Raap of Montrose, and Mary (Jerry) Ideker of Montrose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ella M. Clausen was born Nov. 13, 1925, at rural Ramona, to Harry and Mary (Fordice) Clausen. She was baptized Apr. 16, 1933 and confirmed her Christian faith Aug.

1959. Ella grew up on the family farm and graduated from Oldham High School in 1943. She continued her studies in accounting at Eastern State Teachers College (now DSU) in Madison. Ella worked briefly in the accounting field in Palo Alto, CA before moving back to Madison where she was an accountant for Knappen Motor Co. and then Jensen Motors.

She married Wilbur Gehrels on Jan. 10, 1959, at St. Peter Lutheran Church and they operated the family farm northeast of Wentworth until retiring and moving into Madison in 1989. Ella was active and enjoyed many sporting activities including hunting, fishing and bowling. She loved reading and puzzles.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and LWML, and the Wentworth Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Audrey Clausen and Marge Janke; one brother, Wilbur Bousfield. Survivors include her husband Wilbur; two sons, Jerry (Julie) Gehrels of Wentworth and Dean (Leigh Ann) Gehrels of Madison; 8 grandchildren; 5 greatgrandchildren; one sister, LeAnn (Milo) Poppen, Oregon City, OR; one brother Jim (Ramona) Clausen, Sterling, IL. Services will be 10:30 AM Tues.

Benjamin A. Hoffman Benjamin Alan Hoffman, 34, of Sioux Falls, passed from this life on November 5, 2011 and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. Funeral services will be at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Faith Family Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral. Ben was born on July 1, 1977 to John and Laurie Hoffman at Montevideo, MN.

In 1986 they moved to Loveland, Co. where Ben attended grade school through his Freshman year. His family moved to Sioux Falls in 1993 where he attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1996. Following high school, Ben attended SDSU and Colorado Technical Institute. Ben was an independent contractor and owned and operated Hoffman Builders.

He was a member of the Sioux Homebuilders Association. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, fourwheeling, and his hunting dogs, Ruger and Molli. Ben was also a member of Ducks Unlimited. Grateful for having shared his life are his ents, John and Laurie Hoffman of Sioux Falls, one sister, Jen Reiser (Ben) of Sioux Falls, two nieces, Rebekah, 8, Rowan, 3, and one nephew, Gabe, 9 months. Janet Scott, 81, of Jefferson died November 4, 2011 following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held on Saturday, November 12th at Riverside Lutheran Church, Sioux City, IA with Reverend Charles Wolf presiding. Visitation with family present is at 9:30 and funeral services at 11:00. Janet was born January 27th, 1930 on the family farm west of Irene, South Dakota. She was the 5th of 8 children born to Henry and Dorthea (Sorensen) Jonason.

She graduated from Centerville High School in 1947. Janet was an avid horse lover which led to meeting and marrying Robert Scott in 1948. She settled in Jefferson in 1957 and became involved in horseracing. She enjoyed spending time working outside at her rural Jefferson acreage. She was very proud of her strawberry, flower and vegetable gardens.

In 2000, Janet was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and given a prognosis of living 3 to 6 months. She was convinced that she would beat the cancer and began treatment which continued for the next I1 years. She remained strong-willed and independent until May 2011 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Survivors include two sons, Russell of Jefferson and Ronald of Columbus, Nebraska; four granddaughters; five grandchildren; and one brother, Gerald (Gloria), Jonason. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert; one daughter, Barbara Ann; her parents; four sisters, and two brothers.
