"When the game is on the line, it's all about running north and south and getting as much yardage as you can. "We need to show teams that we ain't scared to go pound the ball at you in the fourth quarter. Our linemen are conditioned and in great shape and we can push the ball in the fourth quarter. The late running push, which totaled 136 yards on the afternoon, provided a nice complement to quarterback Ryan Schneider's aerial game, which included 365 yards passing and a couple of first-half TD passes. It's the kind of balance UCF has been looking for all season.

"We kind of calmed it down in the fourth quarter," UCF coach Mike Kruczek said. "We were just going to run the football and develop some toughness on that side of the ball and chew the clock up and get first downs. "We were already beat up at running back. Eddie Mack is hurt and Omari Howard is hurt and we didn't want to get anybody else hurt. That's why we got a little conservative in the fourth quarter." Baker, who entered the game with 104 yards rushing on 20 carries this season, didn't seem to mind grinding it out.

He nearly matched his season output in one game. "That's when you know that you can play football," Baker said. "When you can line up in the fourth quarter and you can still run the ball, then you know you're better than the team that's opposite of you. "It wasn't that I'm getting more carries or anything. Circumstances brought us to the point where I was the only running back left.

So we had to run out the ball to run out the clock. That's what it came down to." 7 11 11 6 27 7- 11 AP FamtB 18 pass from Baker (pass faHed), 7:46 AC Ooo 4 pass from Baker (pass fatted), 3:01 A 1,011. Tela Brown 22 pan from Lee (kick blocked).
