2000, at a hospital in Malakoff. Texas. He was bora May 12. 1932. ia rural Davis.

He grew up and attended school in the area, graduated from Davis High School ia 1950. He worked for farmers in the area, then for the fGes-Zastrow. Pasco and H. Heary Construction companies. He later worked for Gage Brothers in Sioux Falls.

He married Lucille Overton on Jan. 15. 1965. in Harlingen, Texas. The couple lived in Grand Prairie, where he worked as a machinist for many years.

He retired due to failing eyesight Survivors include his wife. Lucille; a stepdaughter. Linda of Dayton. Texas; two stepsons: Bobby and Buddy, both of Dayton. Texas: three sisters: Elberta Hyronimus of Sioux Falls.

Florence Hawes of Omaha and Arlene Knudson of Centerville; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service in South Dakota is pending at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery Fund. Box 96. Davis.

SD 57021. Helen UOn-MInler RIVERSIDE, Calil-Services for Helen Uin Minkr. 80, formerly of Sioux Falls, were held Jan. 25. 2001, at Arlington Mortuary ia Riverside.

She died Sunday, Jan. 21. 2001. at the Orangetree Convalescent Hospital in Riverside. She was born in Sioux Falls.

She Eved in Riverside for 38 years, where she worked at the Riverside Medical Clinic for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She had also worked in San Pedro, Calif, for a telephone company, from 1941 until 1947. She married Don Minier in California Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Monte of Banning, Calif, and Karen Singh of Riverside; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Lena Wright of Spencer. Iowa, and Doris Wells and Betty Zuliani, both of Westminster, Calif.

ELSEWHERE Lewis Schmidt SOUTH YANKTON. Schmidt. 30. died Saturday. Feb.

10. 2001. ia rural South Yank-too. He was bora Nov. 26.

1970. in Yankton. He attended school in St Helena. Neb, and graduated front Wynot. Neb, High School He attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

Neb, and was currently working at Stockman's Livestock in Yankton. Survivors include five brothers: Floyd and Steve, both of St Helena, David of Yankton. Neil of South Yankton and Ross ofMilford. four sisters: Cathy Schmidt of Wynot. Cindy Kennedy of Grand Island.

Wednesday at the Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and Scripture service at 630 p.m. Visitation continues prior to the service Thursday at the church. Esther DeKeer ARVADA. Colo. -Esther De Heer, 91, formerly of Armour, died Saturday, Feb.

10, 2001, at the Exempla Co. Lutheran Home ia Arrada. Esther DeBoer was bora May 28. 1909. ia Corsica.

She grew up and attended school in Douglas County. She graduated from West-era Academy ia Hull, Iowa. She received her teaching certificate from Southern State Teacher's College, thea worked as a country school teacher for 25 years. She married Richard De Heer on Juik 28. 1938.

in Harrison. The couple lived ia Armour for many years. Her husband died Aug. 17, 1973. She moved to Hot Springs ia 1983.

then to Colorado in 1997. She was a member of the Corsica Christian Reformed Church. Survivors include a daughter. Marly Jones of Westminster, C0I04 two sons: Darrell of Sioux Falls and Dean of Eugene. six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Jeanette Westerlink of Modesto.

10, 2001. at her home in Bellflower. Ada Florence was bora Feb. 28, 1908. ia Platte.

She attended school in the area, then graduated from Westera Christiaa High School in Hull. Iowa She graduated from Calvin College ia Grand Rapids, Mich. She married John Timmer in August 1936. Her husband died Jury 12. 1948.

She married Gareth Kok oa Dec 16. 1952. The couple moved to Edgertoa. Mina, in 1952. where she was an active member of her church.

They moved to Hanford. Calif, in 1960. They retired to Bellflower in 197L Survivors include her husband, Rev. Gareth Kok; six sons: Sherwood Kok. James Kok.

Marvin Timmer, Gary Kok. Bruce Timmer and Douglas Timmer; four daughters: Faith De Kam. Mary Zwaanstra, Karen Timmer and Kay Bosscher. 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held today in Artesia Cemetery in Artesia, Calif.

They later moved to Pierre. She was a member of Christ die Kin Catholic Church in Presho. Altar Society and the Holy Rosary Study Club. She was also a former member of Better Homes Exchange Club. Survivors include her husband.

Walter; a son, Joseph of Des Moines; three grandchildren; a brother. Frank of Pierre; and three sisters: Catherine and Anna, both of Pierre, and Rose of Presho. Services begin at 10:30 Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho with burial in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

MINNESOTA Eugene Schwelckert VIRGINIA, Minn. -Eugene Gene" Schweickert, 76, formerly of Elkton, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at St Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn. He was born April 13, 1924, in Parnell Township near Elkton. He worked in a number of fields, including farming, mining and as a real estate host in Lake Havasu, Ariz.

He also worked as a partner in a produce company and owned a restaurant in Pipestone, Minn. He later worked in construction i and at Firestone, until his retire mentinl972. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of American Legion. Survivors include many cousins and friends, and a special friend and caretaker, Elizabeth Jamieson of Virginia, Minn.

Funeral Mass begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Elkton with burial in St Mary's Cemetery. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Skroch Funeral Chapel in Elkton is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. IOWA Robert Klrkland ALVORD, Iowa Robert "Bob" Kirkland, 44, died of apparent heart attack Sunday, Feb. 11,2001, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was born Feb. 15, 1956, in East Chicago, Ind.
