ARGUSLEADER.COM OBITUARIES RECORDS Arnold R. Hippen Flandreau Arnold R. Hippen, 58, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at his rural home near Flandreau under hospice care. He was born February 15, 1953 in Wellsburg, IA to Raymond (deceased) and Mary (Abbas) Hippen. Arnie married Patricia Anderson on December 2, 1972 in Wellsburg and was a dairy farmer until 1987.

He began college at Ellsworth Community College in 1988 before attending lowa State in Ames where he earned his Masters and PhD degrees in Dairy Science. He started at South Dakota State University in 1998 as a professor with a teaching and research position. His career passion was his students. Arnie is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Eric (Charlotte), Nevada, IA; grandsons, Matthias and Nehemiah; mother, Mary Hippen, Wellsburg, IA and sisters, Marilyn (Jerry) Adelmund, Parkersburg, IA and Donna Crosser, lowa Falls, IA. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the United Reformed Church of Wellsburg and at 10:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Rescue Church in Flandreau.

Keith A. Meyer Keith Allan Meyer went home to be with Jesus on July 6, 2011 at Good Samaritan Luther Manor, Sioux Falls. He died at the age of 89 after a long illness. Helen was born June 5, 1913 in the Carpenter, SD post office. The family eventually moved to Watertown, where Helen attended high school. While attending Augustana College in Sioux Falls, she met J. David Larsen, a rakishly handsome, extremely poor preacher's son with an amazing voice. They fell in love and married.

J. David became a Lutheran Minister and in those days, she assumed the job of "Assistant Her duties included teaching Sunday school, leading the Ladies Aid, singing in the choir, playing the piano or organ, teaching Bethel Series, organizing vacation Bible school, and praying for her husband. They served churches in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. While living in Red Lodge, MT she opened a Norwegian gift shop called the Peer Gynt Suite. They returned to Sioux Falls and in 1993, I.

David died. Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church. She eventually moved into Waterford at All Saints, where she studied Elizabeth Barrett Browning, quilted, embroidered, painted, and developed the library. In 2007, she moved Washington briefly before settling, in' Mesquite, NV where daughter Jean lives. She resided at Highland Manor where she enjoyed Bingo and the Get Smart with Art Program.

Helen had a long term relationship with God and his Son. Jesus. She told many of us that she was looking forward to going to heaven. There was no fear in the thought, only anticipation. Helen is survived by her children, J.

David Larsen (Sally). Arlington, SD and Green Valley, AZ, Mark Larsen (Nancy), Green Valley, AZ. Jean Foster (Jack), Mesquite, NV. Verda Jean Goeman Lennox Verda Jean Goeman, 90, died July 5, 2011 at Riverview Manor in Flandreau.

She was born in 1921 in Lennox to Joe and Matie Reiners. She married Ernest Goeman in 1941. They farmed near Worthing and lived in Vienna. Crooks and Chancellor. retiring in 1982 to Lennox and then Flandreau.

Her husband died in 2002.
