Raymond A. Johnson Memorial Baptist Chapel is a mission which is sponsored by First Baptist Church. All members of the chapel are members of First Baptist Church. A person can be a member of the Sunday School but not a member of the church. To become a member of the church, one. must either present himself as a candidate for membership on promise of a letter of dismissal from another Baptist Church, or on, r fession of faith in the Lord Jesus as savior, be baptized immersion. In either case a vote to receive or reject the candidate is taken by the members present at the regular monthly business meeting. After being received into the church by a majority vote, one is immediately granted full fellowship with all other members. Since the church has a democratic form of government, each member is given equal privileges in voting and participating in the various church activities. When an individual assumes these privleges, he also accepts the responsibility of living a life which is worthy of the name "Christian." Memorial Baptist Chapel is affiliated with the Mississippi County Baptist Assocation, the Arkansas State Gonventon, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Some of the convictions which we share with other bap- tists are as follows: 1. We accept the Scriptures as the source of doctrine. 2. The ultimate source of authority is Jesus Christ the Lord, and every area of life is to be subject to His lordship. 3. Every individual is created in the image of God and therefore merits respect and consideration as a person of infinite dignity and worth. 4. Each person is competent under God to make his own moral and religious decisions. ' 5. Every person is free under God in all matters of conscience and has the right to embrace or reject religion and to his religious beliefs, always with proper regard for the rights of othes. 6. Salvation from sin is the free gift of God through Jesus Christ. 7. The Church is the fellowship of persons redeemed by Christ and made one in the family of God. 8. Baptism and the Lord's Supper, the two ordinances of the church, are symbolic of redemption. 9. A church is an autonomous body, subject only to Christ, its head. 10. The democratic government of a church properly reflects the equality and responsibility of believers under tha lordship of Christ. •loee 111* - ever M Tears of Servio* : ;| tO N. Mb • Biytheville .
