Zella Daeges Leads Club Meet at Ames Zella Daeges, chairman of Council No. 2, Northwestern Regional, International Toastmistress Club, presided at a meeting of the group In the Sheldon-Munn Hotel at Ames Sunday. Other members of the Carroll club attending were Mrs. Edna G. Collins, Mrs.

Anna B. Harrington, Mrs. Inesa Pfiester, Mrs. L. R.

Chapman, club representative, and Ethel Forrest of Carroll and Mrs. Mabel Montgomery of Glidden. Carried out was the theme for the year, "Get on the Toastmls- tress Bandwagon." All of the clubs in the council were represented, with members registered. Table topics at a 1 o'clock luncheon were in charge of Mrs. Madelyn Wonderlich of Oskaloosa.

The business session was followed by three workshops. The first, which was on table topics, was conducted by Mrs. Marge Haynes of Ames. The second and third were in the form of panels one on evaluation was moderated by Katrina Mathias of Des Moines, with members of the Duo Des Moine9 Club taking part, and the other on "Getting Meetings Over on Time," was presented by mem bers of the Oskaloosa club, with Mrs. Margaret Ellis as modera tor.

General evaluator of the after noon was Mrs. Beulah Hall of the City and Rural Toastmtstress Club, Perry. The next meeting of Council No. 2 will be at Carroll in April, with the Carroll club as hostess. Mr.

and Mrs. Vollmer. Mr, and Mrs. Vollmer, longtime residents of Carroll, moved here from Templeton, where they were married at Sacred Heart Church, January 21, 1890. Besides their four daughters named, the family included another daughter, Mrs.

C. L. Rackllffe's home for a fl o'clock potluck dinner Sunday evening. Five hundred was played later. The high score prize was won hy Mrs.

Martin Berger and low by Mrs. Henry Simons. Guests outside of the group were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wurr.

The club will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Simons Sunday night, February 3. 15 Tables of Cards Played at Party of Lidderdale Sodality Twelve tables of pinochle and three of five hundred were played at a public card party in Holy Family parish hall at Lidderdale Sunday night. Hostesses were members of Circle in of the Altar Sodality under chairmanship of Mrs.

Alois Kanne and Mrs. Art Wieland. Mrs. Floyd Remsberg won the high score pinochle prize and Mrs. Arnold Ludwig, low.

Mrs. Lester Schleisman was the winner of the high score 500 prize and Mrs. Henry Beyerink, low. The door prize went to Mrs. Ludwig and the draw to Mrs.

Beyerink. Lunch was served after the games. Sandra Seamans Engaged to Wed Richard Fischer Mr. and Mrs. A.

E. Seamans of Antigo, formerly of Carroll, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Lee, to Cpl. Richard Fischer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fischer of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Seamans, who formerly attended St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing in Carroll, Is now a senior student at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Marshfleld, Wis. Cpl.

Fischer is stationed at Antigo Radar Air Force Base. Eastern Star to Install in Public Ceremony Tonight Officers of Signet Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star, for 1957 will be installed in a public ceremony at 8 o'clock this evening in the Masonic Temple. Mrs. H.

W. Gebhardt of Glidden will be the installing officer and Mrs. E. E. Osborne, Installing chaplain.

Mrs. Arthur Schoessler and Mrs. Leroy Wiebers of Westside will serve as installing marshal and pianist, respectively. Following the ceremony, lunch will be served in the dining room under chairmanship of Mrs. S.

and Mrs. Claude Silbaugh returned home Saturday from Rochester, but left again for Rochester Tuesday, where Mr. Silbaugh submitted to surgery Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs.

Israel Silbaugh are staying in the Claude Silbaugh home with the girls while their parents are in Rochester. Jean Jubell of Des Moines spent the weekend in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jubell. Don Jubell of Jefferson and Janice Smith of Woodbine were Sunday dinner guests in the Henry Jordan home.

Prof, and Mrs. Merle Esmay and children of East Lansing, were weekend visitors In the parental Earl Esmay home. Max Eldridge suffered a broken rib Friday night when he fell as he was walking home from the Ralston Cafe where he had worked for the evening. Mesdames Cliff Dickinson and Robert Gregory were Perry visitors Wednesday. Mr.

and Mrs. Otis Knight left Saturday for Klrkwood, where they visited in the Richard Kolp home and also in the Bernard Kolp home at Manhattan, Kan. Mesdames Emma Blackley, I Dorothy Blackley and Miss Clara Black, accompanied by Mrs. For-; est Gibson of Scranton, visited Mrs. Mlnta Black in the Greene County Hospital Friday.

Mrs. Black is a patient there because of a fall In which she broke her hip. Linda Mary Gregory and Stsvie Dickinson returned to school Monday after days absence because of Francis Signall was released from the hospital Saturday after submitting to surgery Tuesday and is recuperating at his home here. with a family attendance at high mass at St. Joseph Church at 7:30 a.m.

Open house was held throughout the afternoon and evening with the couple's 14 children present: Mrs. Henry Niehaus, Mrs. Gerald McDonald and Mrs. Al Brodie. Los Angeles, Mrs.

Paul Smith and Mrs. "Bud" Martinez, Holly, Wilson Stangl, Naval Air Corps, Corpus Christi, Barney and Pat Stangl, Knoxville, Clem. Mike, Clark and Bill Stangl, Coon RHpids; Mrs. Bob McDonald, Irwin; and Clayton Stangl, Dedham. Also attending were all their grandchildren.

Other' close relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schwaller, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hutchinson, Perry; Mr.

Sophia Pille and Mrs. Mary Boje, Carroll. On Sunday. Jan. 20, a family dinner was held at Pauline's Cafe in Carroll.

Afterward all returned to the John Stangl home for an evening of visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Stangl were married January 19. 1897, at St.

John's Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Rev. Fr. Schulte performed the ceremony. Their attendants were J.

T. Stangl of Templeton and Lizzie Pille of Seneca, Kan. Mrs. Stangl Is the former Antoinette Pille. Weekend visitors at the home of Arthur J.

Graham and his daughter, Edith Graham, were Mr. Graham's son Donald of Cedar Rap- Ids and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Graham, and children Ronald, Edward and Linda of Storden, Minn, Donald Graham arrived Saturday for an overnight visit returning to Cedar Rapids Sunday afternoon. The Harold Graham family were visitors for Sunday only arriving and returning the same day.

Stewardship Meetings Are Set at Lake View (Times Herald Sew. Servlee) LAKE VIEW The Rev. M. W. Lilie announces there will be a series of stewardship meetings Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at the church.

Different families of the Lutheran Church will attend the meetings each night. Mrs. Arthur Olson submitted to surgery in the Manning Hospital on Wednesday. Mrs. Harlan Flink was hostess to the LaKonlan Club Friday afternoon.

Wandell" Flink was a guest. Roll call was "T.V. program problems." Plans were discussed for future meetings. The WSCS meeting was held Thursday In the Methodist Church. Mrs.

B. J. Manly was in charge of the program "Islands in My Community." Mrs. Don Tls- cher reviewed the Dale Evans book "Angel Unaware." Kathy Walters played a piano solo. Hostesses were: Alice Norman, Mrs.

Fred Wells, Mrs. Mabel Armstrong, Mrs. Preston Hendrlckson, Mrs, Marjorle Seymour and Lillian Armstrong. Thirty members of the Lutheran Ladies Aid met at the church Thursday for their January session. The Rev.

M. W. Lllie read from the 93rd Psalm for devotions, using "Family Life" as his topic. Reports of the auditing and visitation committees were given. The birthday bank was remembered by: Mesdames William Neltzke, Wilmer Koessel, Fred Catherine Bugge, Ernest Walters, and Louis Stabbe.

The January hostesses were: Mrs. Lawrence Schroeder, Mrs. Don Hawks, Mrs. M. P.

Peterson and Mrs. Gus Rohde. L. Leffingwells Celebrate Their 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs.

Larry Leffingwell's 25th wedding anniversary was celebrated at two events over weekend. One was a family party In the form of a potluck dinner In the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hoffman at Templeton Sunday evening. In the group were Mr.

and Mrs. Louis E. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy J.

Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Burns and son, David, Mr. and Mrs. C.

R. Thomas and Mary Ncrvig, Carroll; Mr. and Mrs. James Carroll and children, Winona, Mr. and Mrs.

O. H. Hood and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Hood and daughter, Mary, Lohrville.

Mrs. Anderson and Roy J. Burns were attendants at the wedding which took place Jan. 18, 1932, In Carroll. A money tree with silver dollars was presented to Mr.

and Mrs. Leffingwell from the participants. An anniversary cake, Inscribed with 25th anniversary In the frosting, was also topped with three red roses. An evening of cards and visiting followed the dinner. The other party was a dinner at the Brown Derby Saturday evening, with 12 friends in the group.

i Served with the dessert course was an anniversary cake which 1 had been made by Mrs. George I D. Wnlden. The after-dinner hours were spent informally at the Wnlden home, where coffee was served later. The group also presented the Leffingwells with a money tree, Install Officers of St.

Agnes Frank left Saturday morning for several days' visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester G. Frank and family of Dea Moines. Other visitors in the Frank home were Mrs.
