PArfa-lmei Newt ' 58 Women 'Attend tea At Church By MRS. IRA DEAN The Peoria Ladies Aid, entertained at a fellowship tea at the Peoria Church on Wednesday afternoon. Fifty-four women were present, representing the following churches: New Hope, Ruhama, Union Chapel, Rantoul, Peoria, and Warden. Also present were several women from Ottawa. The president of the Peoria group opened the meeting by introducing each group. The program included a song by the congregation, prayer and Scripture by the president, a solo by Mildred Blunk and a speech by Mrs. Browning, Ottawa, on "Women are going, but Where?" Refreshments were served by the Peoria group. Mrs. Maude Evans accompanied her daughter, Elenor and her husband, Ottawa, on a trip to White Bear Lake, Minn., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Evans and children. Glenn is a son of Mrs. Evans. Mrs. Ross Bird has returned from Fort Worth Tex., where she had surgery on one of her eyes. She is getting along nicely. Sheri Detwiler is ill at her home with measles. THE OTTAWA HERALD Monday, April 29, 1963 Ottawan One Of Finalists Marilyn Robertson, University of Kansas freshman, was one of the 16 finalists chosen from more than 1,000 Speech I students at the university for the Speech Potpourri last week. Each semester one representative is selected for me contest from each of the 49 Speech I sections. The 16 finalists are selected by a process of elimination. Miss Robertson spoke on "The Role of Associated Women Students." She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Robertson, 611 N. Cedar. OHS Notes Two Ottawa High students, Mareia Doman and Paul Stephens, will attend the Rotary youth conference banquet at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, tonight after spending the day at the college. The youth conference is being held at the same time the Rotary district conference meets. Paul is the son of Rev. and Mrs. R. C. Stephens, 704 N. Oak, and Marcia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Doman, 616 S. Maple. The Treble Clef, a 16-voice, all- girls vocal group from Emporia State gave an assembly for the OHS students this morning at the high school auditorium. S. S. Bcrgsma, OHS teacher, accompanied a group of OHS Future Farmers to Manhattan today where Roy Dunn will receive the State Farmer Degree. The Ottawa High golfers played Rosedale at the Ottawa Country Club this afternoon. The PTAs of all Ottawa schools will hold a joint meeting in the senior high auditorium tonight. Rev. Harold Mollett, Lawrence, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in that city, will be the guest speaker tomorrow night at the Ottawa Teachers Association's spring dinner. The dinner will be at 6:30 at Garfield School. Ottawa High School athletes will head for Argentine Thursday afternoon for the East Kansas League varsity track meet. (AP)-The Kansas Civil Air Patrol found its target in an annual search and rescue exercise during the weekend. About 200 members were given the problem of locating a plane that supposedly was lost on a flight from Goodland to Independence. The search started at 7:80 t.m.
