A paste should be made by shaving tho soap in. a little water and melting the whole upon the back of the stove.

Usa a teaspoonful of borax to a quart of water. In shampooing dark hair, rub the soapy paste into the hair and keep on rubbing it, scrubbing the hair be tween the hands. Scrub and scrub un til you get the dirt and the grease a'-l started together. Now shampoo with hot water, using a great many waters, and keep oa washing it until the water runs clear. It will take a surprising quantity of water, for dark hair gathers oil ana this attracts the dirt.

When the dark hair has been dried, it will appear very full, and it will even have a grayish look, as though it were dusty. But it needs only a lit tle treatment, and It will be as glossy as one could wish. Take for this the oldest brush in the house, being sure that it is well washed and freed from all dust, ana go over the hair with coaxing tho oils from tho scalp and gradually bringing back the gloss. Good, even brushing ia what Is needed. Finally the dark hair is curled for most women find it necessary to curl the hair in order to bo.

pretty. Ana here the requirement is for a curl that will stay in, for every one knows that straggly black hair Is unattractive. Take some sort of natent curler, preferably a metal one, and heat It. Let it lie of the kind that can be left in the hair. Wind the hair around the curler, first having dampened, it with borax water, and leave up several hours; over night is "best.

When taken down, the hair will fall in a natural wave, which will stay in a week if properly taken caro of. Why, Mrs. Jones, what have you been doing to yourself; you're looking fine. Never saw you look so sweet. Simply took Rocky Mountain Tea last April.
