Mr. Spangler declines not because he entertains any doubt of success, nor because of any want of faith in, or love to, Whir principles and measures, but because of the pressing claims of private business. During the past week, the Senate amended a joint resolution from the House to print S000 copies of tho report of the Director of the Penilenitcntiary, by adding 3000 copies of the JludUor' Jtrport in Knglish, and 1500 in German. Next day the striking out tho German copies, and sdding the report on the Auditor's contingent fund, at greed to the amendment. Thus it will be seen, the House Ins receded froth the true position it weeks ago, not to print any copies of the Auditor' Report so long as it held the insolent language it dues, toward the Legislature, The Wliigi generally opposed the printing, but a few wanted something to send 'home for "Buncombe," and some thought the report contained an exposition of me rottenness of certain branches of the public service, which it was neceseary for the people to know, and so they aotnpro mised the dignity of the house, as I think, for few copies of Brough's Report. The Senate has not yet agreed to the House amend, ment, but doubtless will.1.. The bill to amend the charter of the W.

Good, 'hio has not yet stained her skirts with foul repudiation.

To day, Mr- Duncan (whig) introduced a bill to authorize banking in Ohio, Mr. D. introduced it on his own responsibility, and it cannot, therefore, be considered a Whig measure. It is on. the free banking, State Stock system.

I have not yet examined it sufficiently to give you a synopsis of it; but. will do so, soon. Mr. Claypoole also presented a bill to incorporate a bank at Chilli cothe, on the independant system. It is said to be an excellant bill.

These movements need not encourage the peopleto expect any thing in the way of bank charters the Senate will go 'to the death" against every thing of the kind. Divorces are now the ofilcr of the day; and it makes my heart sick to nee the utter recklessness of a portion of the Legislature in regard to this subject. Divorce bills have passed either branch of the Legislature this session, on the most trivial icasons being giv en in their support The amount of injury done the public morols, and the good of socie ty, by the reckless manner jn which the marriage covenant has been treated in this State, during the last few years, cannot be calculat We are becoming a by ward and a re proach in the mouths of our Eister States. The Senate spent the whole of yesterday in debating a case of a woman from York v-ho seek.3 a divorce from her husband at the hanuis of the Ohio Legislature She applied to the legislatures of New Yolk and Michi gan without and now Ohio is asked to legalize her adultery shame, art thou fled forever! All this expense to the State comes 'of doing wrong in entertaining any petition for a divorce. The courts are open for almost any case that can arise.
