Use live mullet for the reds and shrimp for the snapper. Flounder are congregating around the rocks near the entrance to the lagoon on the north side of the inlet. Most are being caught on live shrimp.

St. Johns Riven Wild shiners, fished along the hyacinths, are taking most of the bass in the Astor area, but around Sanford the bass are hanging off points and prefer topwater plugs or crankbaits. Bream are fairly plentiful aroung the dropoffs near Astor, while the best area for speckled perch is from Lake Monroe to Osteen. Lake County: Bass fishing is slow and the fish seem scattered. The best tactic should be fishing outside the grass during the early morning with plastic worms, switching to crankbaits and a little deeper water later in the day.

Bream are concentrating around weed bed and in the canals of the Oklawaha Chain. Some are in the Dead River that connects Lakes Eustis and Harris. The best place for specks should be the five-acre fish attrac-tor in the north end of Lake Griffin. Lake Tohopekaliga: Topwater plugs and crankbaits are the keys to catching schooling bass that have been numerous in Goblet's Cove and North Steer Beach during the early morning. Rising water levels have moved many of the larger fish into heavy grass, where flipping is mandatory.

Specks are still congregating near the entrance to Shingle Creek and drift-fishing with live minnows suspended just off the bottom is the best method for locating the fish. East Lake Tohopekaliga: Bass should be feeding just outside the reed line in the early morning and in deeper water in mid-lake later in the day. Use plastic worms along the reeds and troll live shiners over the deeper holes. Shellcrackers are still holding around the mussel beds, where live worms fished just off the bottom account for most of the fish. Orlando Area: Anglers fishing at night with have been catching specks in Lake Conway, fishing with live min-; nows in the deeper water.

The fish are in four to eight feet of water and are hitting live shrimp, plastic-bodied jigs or small mullet-like plugs. Red drum (channel bass) are feeding around the inshore islands and oyster bars on incoming tides. Live shrimp or chromed spoons are the best baits. For mangrove snapper, fish the holes in the Homosassa River with live shrimp. Daytona Beach-New Smyrna Beach: Bluefish and Spanish mackerel have been feeding in the surf, the blues hitting cut mullet and the mackerel being caught on diamond jigs.

Sea trout, redfish and snook are plentiful in the Indian River, but many of the fish are too small to keep. Higher than normal tides have scattered the fish inside the mangroves, so you will have to search for them. Use live shrimp and fish the incoming tide. Offshore, bottom fishing has been good for snapper and sea bass, and topwater anglers have been catching dolphin and king mackerel. Titusville: Spotted sea trout and mangrove snapper should be plentiful in the Indian River around the holes and dropoffs.

Use live shrimp and fish near the dropoffs in places such as the Haulover Canal entrance to Mosquito Lagoon. The red tide outbreak along the Canaveral National Seashore and the, resultant fish kill has stopped surf fishing. Port Canaveral: Wahoo and dolphin are fairly numerous offshore in 120 to 240 feet of water, but sailfish are scarce. Bottom fishing should be good for snapper and sea bass, with an occasional grouper. Some large king mackerel have been showing up along the buoy line, which is also holding tripletail.

The best bet for flounder should be fishing with live shrimp at the closes buoy to the port, Marker 1 3. Sebastian Inlet: Spanish mackerel remain abundant in the surf, feeding on glass minnows. Use small chromed spoons or jigs that resemble the minnows.
