It may be a drop cooky, or it may be a rolled one, or it may contain different fruits and nuts, thus changing its appearance.

If they are rolled thin they Yet bridegrooms need a chart to, steer by through the stormy sea of wedlock far more than do hrirtes. for everv trirl has been Innklno- fnrwflrd tn eetUner mar- ried ever since she climbed out of her kiddie coop and is more or less prepared for it, while every man has thought that somehow he was going to escape it, and it takes him unawares. Now the first bit of advice that I would give the young husband is to get off on the right foot in marriage. By the time the honeymoon has set the husband's status is settled in the household. He is either the cock of the walk or a poor henpecked creature who jumps when his wife speaks to him, and nothing ever alters this situation as long as he lives.

Also, the first year determines whether the wife is going to pull her weight in the boat and be a good working partner or a drone and a parasite. So begin your married life by treating your wife as a regular human being whom you expect to act like a grown-up, intelligent woman. Don't baby her. Don't spoil her. Don't let her run you in debt by starting off your new life together in a style that you cannot afford.

The men who have to get up and get their own breakfasts while their wives snooze half the day have only themselves to blame for It. Ditto fhe men who have to sit down every day to meals that would kill an ostrich. Same way with the men whose wives keep their noses to the grindstone with their extravagances. Virtually every girl Is wildly In love when she marries and while she is In that mushy state Is the time for her husband to mold her to his heart's desire. Be a sport about marriage.

Take it on the chin and like it. You made the bargain. Stick to it without whining. Of course, it isn't all that your fondest fancy painted, but nothing In life is. Nothing looks so entrancing at close range as it did through the Show win- dow.

Don't be critical of your wife. You picked her out. She is your taste. And if she doesn't measure up to your ideals the fault is yours, not hers. You should have used more judgment in your selection.

Don't cut out all of the love-making at the altar. Marriage doesn't cure a girl of her love for sweets as clerking in a candy store does. Before you married Evelina there were dozens of boys who wanted to date her and who told her how beautiful and wonderful she was. Now you've got to plnchhit for the whole crowd and, unless you keep up the soft talk and the jollying, marriage is going to seem as flat and unappetizing to her as a inajr uc uocu aa a uuais xui a. iiuea coony.

Solitude and i -PERSONAL Keep Fracture Up And Active, -By WILLIAM Christmas Trees, Shamrocks, Snowflakes Show In Prints By ELISABETH ADAMS TIME was when children's clothing followed standardized lines and patterns, with little variation winter or summer.

The story ia quite different now. Whenever a new influence invades the world of women's fashions, designers of little girls' garments are quick to respond. Ty rolean copies are newly high-4 lighted, for misses and women. It follows, therefore, that the theme is being followed with ramifications, for children. Apparel of this sort Is particularly adapted to the rather shapeless bodies of little girls.

A swinging bolero sweater, loose hanging blouse, or full skirt with apron is generally much more attractive on the extremely young. The styles pictured here are take-offs on the Tyrolean mode for older persons. Sister dresses in red and white dimity make excellent examples of the new trend. The neat white organdy binding and collar will appeal to the mother, while the lively figures in the print, the brass buttons, and the apron in stiff organdy will attract the child. Collar Lies Flat The binding defines the high waistline, puffed sleeve and front trimming.

Tailored as to type, the white collar lies flat, but ef fective on the bright print. The figures show Christmas tree, stars, snowflakes, men with wheelbarrows, and shamrocks among other things. All of the objects are familiar and pleating to the young eye. And those stiff, starched aprons! The jacket is a very important part of the ski costume and should be selected with an eye to comfort as well as style. Wind-Proof, Too There are any number of wind-proof and water-proof ski cos tumes available and these of course are the most practical.

Many of the jackets are waist length and many of them come down just a little bit below the waist-line. These ski outfits are good for other types of outdoor sports and can be worn for skating and tobogganing. Be sure that you buy yours large enough. Rough and tumble outdoor sports do not fit tight fitting clothes. Split seams are no help to your comfort or your pocketbook.

Grey and navy blue are about the best colors for these sports suits. If you want to be particularly smart wear dark brown trousers with a yellow jacket or navy blue trousers with a white jacket. If your ears and head are particularly cold wear a bird-cloth hood that buttons up under the chin and comes down way below the neckline. A new fabric called Skl-O-TwllI is excellent for ski trausers. This fabric sheds snow remarkably well.

The burden of providing hospitals and hospital beds has increased out of proportion with the increase in population in the past three decades.

People are acquiring greater fondness for hospitalization; or should we say they are less afraid of hospitals than they were formerly? Indeed, I think hospital services are being greatly abused by both the laity and the physicians, and a thorough investigation of the situation and a bit of sensible reform would go far toward a settlement of the problem of maintaining our public hospitals. Get Vp Quickly i Some of the most competent physicians and surgeons at present insist on many patients getting up within a week, often within three days after a simple laparotomy, that is, any kind of abdominal operation such as appendectomy. On this treatment their patients get along remarkably well. I believe It might be distinctly to the advantage of the patient If It were the rule, rather than the exorption, that he must be up and about by the third day at the latent, or even nrxl dny after a rlean simple laparotomy. The chief reason why the average dumb surgeon feels it necessary that the patient remain in bed for two weeks or more after an operation is because that's where surgeons have always kept 'em.
