assistant principal of Lexington School for Deaf, New City, who Is visiting her brother, Albert New and family, 719 17th avenue The Lexington school, Miss New says, is one of first two oral schools for the deaf in America and was founded In 1M7. She deals with children of preschool sge and when she recounts of tha accomplishments be- ng made toward fitting these children for a life of usefulness and -jdependence, a is lalntad. They learn to speak and lacome proficient in Up-reading. Only a few yeara ago. Miss New aasisted Mrs.

Spencer Tracy in es- labllshlng the John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles, so named for her only son, who was born deaf. Now 20 years of age, John Tracy has been able through his mother's tireless efforts, to adjust himself to a bearing world. Hundreds of people, with similar problems in their families, wrote to the Tracys for advice and assistance and Mrs. Tracy, who was Louise Treadwell on the screen, decided to establish the clinic to.aid deaf children and their parents. The assistance offered by the Tracy clinic la entirely free, Miss New said, and Instruction by correspondence Is available, and can be secured by writing the John Tracy clinic, 924 West 37th street, oe Angeles 7, Cal.

4 While much has been written about Roy Lee Emken's terrible experiences aa a prisoner of war of the Japanese, his bride of recent date, the former Miss Bernlce Mon roe, is also a veteran of world war and was discharged with a rat- Ing of sergeant In the WAC, the aama rank held by her husband. Plans for the annual Galveston County Dairy Show, for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. May. 3, 4 and 5, are nearlng completion, according to officials of the Qalveston County Dairy and Livestock Association, sponsors. Registered Jersey cattle sale catalog and the premium and program catalog have been completed and a carnival has been obtained.

School bands from Dickinson, Alvin and Galveston are to be on hand. Twenty registered Jerseys art to be sold Saturday, May 4. This catalog may bt obtained from I. T. Vansant, Arcadia.

Tht show will begin at a. m. Friday with a Judging contest and will continue until Sunday afternoon. Program also Includes picture shows and band concerts as well judging. General rules for the show have been listed by officials and art as follows: All producers, owners and breeders from Galveston and Brasoria counties are eligible to enter cattle for classification and awards in all open classes.

Special rules will govern whtrt special awards are offered. Entry blanks can be obtained from the secretary and entries must filed with the secretary, J. R. a Arcadia, before April 25. A stall fee of DOc per animal shall be charged to each exhibitor, except 4-H or'FFA members.

No animal shall be entered' or exhibited under a name other than that of the bona-fide owner. Animals which, In the judgment of the liveitock committee, are entered In the -wrong class or classes, will re-entered' In the proper class and will show in such class only. All entries must bt In place by p. May 2, 1946, and remain until released by the livestock commit tee. Certificate of registry or transfer on alk registered animals must be presented before animal enters ring For classification or adjudication.

In order to be eligible for competition, all entries must have been the property of the exhibitor for at least 30 days prior to date of show. All bulls entered In this show must be registered. Females may be grade or purebred, except those entered by junior exhibitors, which must all be registered. No bull over 2 years of age shall be permitted to enter the grounds unless he has in his nose a substantial ring to which Is attached a rope, chain, strop or other device for leading, tying and handling. The management ihall have the right to refuse entry of any animal or exhibit which, In their pudgment, is unworthy of exhibition or may a menace to the mornl or physical safety and well belnjr of the exhibitors, spectators, visitors or the community.

All animals, when called, must be shown at halter In arena provided for this purpose and mint be handled by owner or his agent. 'Failure to comply with this rule wilt render animal for ludgtng and classification. Any question of eligibility of any exhibitor to receive any award shall be referred to tht officers of association for review and determination, and their decision and ruling shall be final. No blanket or cover shall bt permitted on animals between tht hours of 9 a. m.
