KUTHEKFORD Staff Writer HIGHLAND PARK For a team which hadn't played a game in two weeks, the Denton Broncos played probably their most complete game since district play began seven weeks ago. The offense moved the ball freely throughout the game, and the defense contained the opposition better than they had since early jn the season, as the Broncos whipped the Highland Park Scots 27-7 in Highlander Stadium Friday night.

"We were real pleased with the way both offense and defense played," Bronco Head Coach Billy Ryan said. "The offense moved the ball very well, and the defense had a good night," Ryan continued "They (the defense) did a good job containing them Scots)." Then three out of the next four plays picked up first downs and the Broncos were deep in Scot territory but the drive stalled on the 19 and David Williamson's 35 yard field goal attempt was wide. The Broncos then held the Scots and received the punt on their 42 yard line. Six plays later, the Broncos found themselves on the Scot two where Joe Varner took it in from over the middle.

Williamson, whose 28 yard run setup the TD, added the PAT and the Broncos led, 7-0 vvith 2:54 left in the first quarter. Following an exchange of punts, the Scots got the ball on their 22, and on the first play, quarterback Sam Gibbons passed long down" field Bionco safety Craig Snider went for the interception, but the ball went through his hands into those of Scot Randy Goss, who raced untouched into the end zone.
