Great Auk bones found CONCORD, I Members of the New Hampshire Archaeological Society have uncovered the Ixmes of a Great Auk a flightless hircl extinct since 1844. The find was made last summer by a crew digging only 1,000 yards from the site of the proposed nuclear power plant in Seabrnok. Further arclieoSogical exploration in the area would not he seriously affected by a nuclear power plant, a spokesman for the Audubon Society said.

Dr. Raymond Paynter, Harvard University Museum curator, identified the bones as belonging to the Great Auk. He said the Itones have not yet been dated. The editor of "Condor" Peter Stettenheim, said the bones are the first evidence of the existence of Great Auks DM the New coast. The Great Auk was a frequent visitor to the Canadian Maritime Provinces in the IGth and I7lli centuries.

It was the taking of its eggs and later its feathers that led to the bird becoming extinct. Special Beautiful Oak Picnic Basket Fashioned of hand-hewn oak strips.
