New COON RAPIDS A superintendent, high, school principal and five new teachers will join the faculty at Coon Rapids Community Schools when classes start Thursday. Aug. 26. Officials are anticipating 640 students approximately the same number enrolled as last year. Site grading fora new high school has been started but actual.

construction cannot begin until litigation has been cleared up. George Starcevich has been hired as superintendent of schools replacing Douglas Anderson who resigned in July. He is'a graduate of Coe College and Drake University and formerly served as county superintendent of Appanoose and Monroe county schools. He a 1 has been superintendent of schools at Dallas; and Fox Valley schools. Changes Made at Holy Spirit 455 students will enroll at Holy Spirit School when classes start Monday, Aug.

30. The decrease from last -year is due to a large graduating class as opposed to a small first grade class, according to Sr. Susan Till, principal. Several curriculum changes have been made'for the coming year including a revised spelling program in all grades and new penmanship books. Revised will be extended to grades five and six and new social studies books for grades one through three will also be added.

The Ginn science series will be introduced to students in grades one through six. Recent English textbook series will be on the agenda for faculty study during the year. Physical improvements have been made at'Holy Spirit School. Black-out drapes have been installed library Ross Davisson will be the new high school principal. He received his master's degree at the University of South Dakota and comes Rapids from Shelby.

Davisson will also serve as athletic director. Richard VandeBunte is the new band instructor. He iS a graduate of Hope College, Holland, Mich. A University of Wisconsin graduate', Larry will teach junior high science and assist in'coaching', fbole previously taught at Holy Spirit School in Carroll. Paul Jensen has been hired to teach school mathematics and serve as a coach.

He previously taUght at Dumont for four years and graduated from Mankato State University. Returning high school faculty members include: Ethel Betts, high mathematics; Larry Bevard, Sr. "Agnes Wernimont will assist in various capacities. Several faculty members attended workshops and summer, school classes at Clarke, College, Viterbo College and Education Agency in Ankeny. Registration for students who have not yet signed up will be held Aug.

14 and 15 after all parish school offices may be contacted for registration information the week of Aug. 15. A general faculty meeting will be held Aug. 25 and two in-service days set for Aug. 26-27.
