Ooal or the derby is to bring; children and parents together for a day of fun. Following registration, Conservation Officer Phil Kale talked about water safe ty. Participants were given their choice of three designated fishing areas.

Winners were announced after an hour of fishing. Andrea Reinhart was the winner In the age 3-3 category. Kevin Settle won the 6-10 group; and Andrew Losaon was the winner In the 11-14 division. Drinks were available, and every participant received a prize during the drawing, which concluded the day. Local businesses donated prUea.

"'V i i Off? reunion clcnoo ill. 1 A reunion of descendants of Elmer and Osa Norman, who had nine children, and John and Jane Norman, who had nine was held April 21. It was an Informal gathering at the Hitchin' Post Restaurant in Norman. The Hitchin' Post used to be the general store that was across the street from Elmer and Osa's home where many of their children grew up. Many of the cousins hadn't seen each other for 25 to 30 years.

In addition to Norman and Brad, those attending were Charles and Audrey Norman of Atlanta, Don and Verla Norman of Brownstown; Kenneth, Annette and Joe Norman of Mitchell; sisters Marjorie Isenberg of Bedford, Mary Evelyn and Ernest Fish of Brownstown; Rodney and Darlene Fish of Bedford; Phillip and Barbara Fish of Jeffersonville; Michael and Diane Fish of Brownstown; Tim Fish of Rushville; Betty Brabant of Rancho Bernardo, Kathy, Alicia and Kevin Stanley of Clarksville, Larry Norman of Medora; and Brian and Andrea Waldbieser of Mitchell. John Williams. Shields High School Class of 1947 celebrated its 55th-' year reunion this past weekr end with a social time Friday at. the Moose Lodge and a dinner Saturday at the Elks Lodge. Reunion Committee Chairman Jesse Kovener wel-: corned the class and read notes from those unable to attend. Dona Day Cooper led in a memorial to the 38 deceased class members.

Carol Clause Wait introduced guests: former teacher Nelson Lewis and his wife, Doris; former teacher Jane Coryell; former classmate during the junior high years, Robert Coons and his wife, Mary Ann; "and Glenna Rigsbee, Classmates introduced themselves and their spouses and gave brief biographies of what they had been doing through the years, adding "what I leaned during my four years at Shields High School." The young women participating In the Girls, of Jackson County Teen coun-s ell's "Study 'Buddies" pro-), gram In Seymour help local students with their homework at the Girls Inc. office four evenings a week. Their efforts have won high honors in the "Colgate Youth For. America" campaign.

The club's project was chosen from among more than 2,000 entries nationwide and recognized with a $500 sec-, ond' prize In the Girls Inc. division. Each year, U.S.' clubs and troops of six national youth organizations Girl Scouts of the USA, Boy Scouts of America, Camp Fire USA, Girls National 4-H Council, and Boys and Girls Johnson named at Berea College Amberlee Johnson of Brownstown was recently named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at Berea College in Berea, Ky. She is a daughter of Dan and Penny Johnson of Brownstown. To be eligible, a student must achieve a 3.2 or higher regular term average for a minimum of four full courses, the equivalent of 16 credit hours.
