COLEMAN, N.D.-- I have been concerned about a condition called, toxopUs- mosis. I have read so many confusing things about it, and Us relation to uncooked meat. Can this possibly affect me as a pregnant woman, or the child whom I expect in two months? Mrs.S.D.,Pa. Dear Mrs. I have noted that there are cycles of anxiety in the letters .1 receive from readers.

It is not always obvious where and how special fears are introduced into the lives of people. Sometimes numbers statistics appear in popular magazines that cannot be properly evaluated by readers. This may be responsible for unnecessary anxiety. Toxoplasmosis seems to be one of the present "worry- fads." It is a disease caused by a parasite that is found in birds and mammals. The exact way the parasites are transmitted from animals to man is not known.

It is known that one human cannot transfer them to another. There are many special tests that can determine if a person is infected with this parasite. The suJfa drugs and other drugs are used with effectiveness if the condition is proven to exist. It is true that a child can be born with many problems if toxoplasmosis is present. Yet you are doing yourself a great injustice by speculating and living in anxiety about a condition that undoubtedly does exist.

Simply because you read about it does not mean that you are more prone to acquire it, nor that you have it. Since the problem of un-. cooked meat is causing so! much anxiety my suggestion is that all people, gourmets or others, should give up this special kind of indulgence. Is bronchiectasis the same as emphysema? Are they both" due to tobacco? Mr.J.J.,Mich. Dear Mr.

"Ektasis" is Greek, meaning dilation. Bronchiec- tasis is the dilation (widening) of the bronchial tubes. It is a severe chronic infection of the lungs that may be a complication of chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis, and even whooping cough. The disease is different" from emphysema, although: ootn conditions may exist at the same time, and frequently do. With the advent of antibiotics, the frequency of bron- chiectasis has been diminished.

Various kinds of postural exercise, and even some types of surgery have been devised for this very distressing condition. Cigarettes most definitely should be given up completely if brcnchiectasis or emphysema exists. Comedienne Nanette Fabray MARY'S MOM Nanette Fabray will take the role of Mary's mother on the Mary Tyler Moore Show this fall even though she Is only 17 years older than Miss Moore. New Town Seeking Support SAN ANTONIO (AP) The city council voted support Thursday of a proposed "new town-in town" project for the development of 535 acres of downtown business. and housing.

The Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the proposal and urging the Department of Housing and Urban Development to approve loan guarantees to underwrite the project. The proposal calls for a 20- year plan in which the city and the San Antonio Development Agency formerly called Urban Renewal Agency -would work in partnership with a private investor group. By VERNON SCOTT DPI Hollywood Correspondent HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -Nanette Fabray is about 17 years older than Mary Tyler Moore, but will play Mary's mother on Miss Moore's series next season. It wasn't an easy choice for; Nanette. "At first I turned down the role," the comedienne said.

"I thought we weren't that far apart in age. Mary called four times asking me to please accept the part. "We had some meetings with the producers and finally 1 agreed because I've been holding that sort, of role in reserve for years. Now I can do a take-off on my own mother-- from memories that go back many years. "There was another reason.

Most women have a terrible hangup about age and trying to keep up with youth. The mother character in the show has the same problem. "She keeps reminding people she was a child'bride. And I think it's time someone poked fun at this premise, "Let's face it, I am what I am--33 years old." Nanette laughed. In that event, Mary Tyler Moore is a babe of 16.

Nanette will make no effort to age herself physically by wearing special makeup, spectacles or by putting a cackle in her voice. Nanette has been a near regular on the Carol Burnett show for several years and isn't troubled by establishing herself in any particular image. Miss Fabray may not portray ingenues, but her lively sense of humor and spirited outlook give the lie to her role as the mother of a 3KK year-old daughter. "I'm looking forward to it, nonetheless," a concluded. "She's a funny lady, and those are my kind of people." MOVING?
