Blevins, Jr., 421 East 7th, has graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. Cadet Lynn J. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan M. Long, Nickerson, is one of more than 1,050 cadets who have entered their sophomore year the the U.S. Air Force Academy. Cadet Long, will be commissioned a second lieutenant and awarded a B.S. degree upon graduation from the acadamey in 1974. He is a 1970 graduate of Nickerson High Scliool. James R. Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd D. Bell, RFD 3, recently was promoted to army specialist four while serving with the 61st Artillery in Germany. Specialist Bell is a personnel records clerk in Headquarters Battery of the Artillery's 7th Battalion near Spangdahlem. Ho is a 190!) graduate of Buhler High School, 1st Sgl. Arthur V. Lyman, 701 North Carey, retired recently from the Army at Ft. Riley, after serving more than 20 years on active duty. Sergeant Lyman was last assigned as first sergeant with ihc 32nd Artillery in Germany. Pfc. Thomas J. Hunt, son of Mrs. Francis Ricket, Ellihwood, recently was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Pfc. Hunt Is a cannoneer in Battery C, 2nd Battalion of the Division's 27th Field Artillery near Friedberg. Pvt. Ricky J. Layman, son of Mrs. Burtice J. Layman, 2013 North Main, recently completed eight weeks of basic training at Ft. Jackson, S. C. Sgt. Alan K. Voos, son of Mrs. Dorothy J. Voos, Russell, recently was assigned to the 1st Engineer Battalion at Ft. Riley. Sgt. Voos, is a supply clerk in the Battalion's Headquarters Company. His wife, Jana, lives in Manhattan, lie received his B. A. degree in 1969 from the U n i- versily of Kansas, Lawrence. Pvt. Lance B. Budge, son of Mrs. Priscilla Budge, St. John, recently completed eight weeks of advanced individual training as an armor reconnaissance specialist at the U. S. Army Armor Center, Ft. Knox, Ky. A 1966 graduate of St. John High School, he received h i s B.S. degree in psychology in 1971 from McPherson College. Pvt. Michael W. Buchanan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Buchanan, Lewis, recently completed eight weeks of advanced individual training at the U.S. Army Armor Center, Ft. Knox, Ky. A 1966 graduate of Lewis High School, he received his B.B.A. degree at Washburn University in Topeka. His wife, Barbara Jean, lives at Galva. Sgt. Stanley E. Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Adams, Anthony, recently participated in Lark Signal 71, the 7th Signal Brigade, five - day operational readiness test held in Germany. Sgt. Adams la stationed near Kaiserlautern, as a radio relay and carrier attendant in the Brigade's Company C, 1st Signal Battalion. A lfWii graduate of Anthony High School, he received his B.S. degree In 1970 from Kansas State College, Pittsburg. Pvt. Darryl R. Apel, son of Mr. mid Mrs. Anthony M.
