Page 2 Second Sixty May, 2001 ALINA ENIOR S C E . >- ,'- T'' May Activities Could you use a new color TV, a night out at your favorite restaurant, a new T-shirt, gift certificates, baskets full of goodies, day trips to Kansas casinos, hotel rooms at the Pioneer, Ramada Express or Avi Casinos in Laughlin, Nevada? Then you need to come to Casino Night at the Salina Senior Center! Our yearly fund raising CASINO NIGHT wiU be on May 8th. We will begin with registration at 6:30 p.m., with games starting at 7:00 till 9:00 p.m. and auction starting at 9:15 p.m. in the evening. This is a yearly event that we plan with Salina Parks and Recreation and the Adult Care Homes in Salina. It will feature games of chance such as black jack, roulette and bingo. Winners will be paid in funny money that can be used to buy prizes at the auction at 9:00 p.m.We will have a drawing for a color TV donated by Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center at the end of the evening. We will have lots of snacks and hot appetizers with fun as the main event! Registration deadline is Monday, May 7th at noon. Call Chrystal at 827-9818 or Janice at 309-5765. Cost is only $5.00 a person. We have some great prizes again this year so come for the fun and leave a wiimer! We wish to thank our partners again this year: Alterra SterUng House I & n, C.L.C., Holiday Resort, Kenwood View, Presbyterian Manor, Shalimar Health Center, Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center and Windsor Estates for all the wonderful donations of prizes and volunteers they have provided for this event. Thanks also to the local merchants and community for providing great prizes and support. Our musical entertainment this month begins with Mr. Moon who will play the piano with his bouncy style on May the 2nd at 11:15 a.m. MOTHER'S DAY will be observed on Friday, May 11th and the RSVP choir will serenade us at 11:15 a.m. The monthly birthday party will be the 16th. We will serve birthday cake with our noon meal so come and celebrate your birthday, with your ftiends and neighbors. Alice Thomas will entertain us with her sweet and sassy piano during our birthday party. 55 Alive Driving Classes will be held at the Salina Senior Center May 9th and 10th from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Classes will cost $10.00 and be taught by Jean Scribner at the Salina Senior Center at 245 North Ninth. There will be a break for lunch and meals can be pur­ chased at the Center for $2.50. To register for classes please call 8279818. Phyllis Nicholson will be teaching an intermediate bridge class beginning Tuesday, May 1, 2001. The class will meet each Tuesday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for six weeks. Cost will be $25 which will include all materials. No pre-registration necessary. Some of the material covered will be: new ideas about refining the opening bid, no trump bidding, declarer play of the hand, defensive play, common conventions, preemptive bidding, and competitive bidding. Health and Information: Alzheimer's Support Group meeting May 3rd at 2 p.m. This is a great meeting for caregivers, family members and friends to gather and provide support for each other. • HEARTLAND SHARES ORDER DAY will be May 4th, PICK UP DAY will be May 18th between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the center. Don't forget to buy your SHARE for $16.50. • FLEA MARKET AND BAKE SALE May 9th FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 11:45 A.M. ALL DONATIONS GO TO SUPPORT THE SALINA SENIOR CENTER. CALL 827-9818 FOR FREE PICK UP OF ITEMS TO BE DONATED. • FREE BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS AT 10:00 A.M. May 9th.
