To recognize and encourage Telefund volunteers, businesses from Manhattan and across the nation donated more than $60,000 in prizes. # ^ ^ EMPORIA STATE: Local and area students at Emporia State University have accepted Presidential Academic Awards for the 2001-2002 academic year. The Presidential Academic Award is awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students who have demonstrated high academic achievement. Freshmen PAAs are based on ACT scores and range from $500 to $1,500; transfer student PAAs are based on grade-point average and range from $500 to $750.
