Jennifer Wetzel, Blue Springs, Mo., a senior theater major, directed the production. Cast members included Amanda Gawith, Salina; Julee Cobb, Bennington; Whitney Thaden, Longford; Aubrey Gerrond, Hugoton; Kassie Courange, Canadian, Texas; and Jaime Blackwell, Phoenix. FORT HAYS STATE: Local and area students at Fort Hays State University have been inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, an interdisciplinary honor society. They include Salinans Adam Moos, junior, and Jared Savage, graduate student; Beth Haymond, senior, Ellsworth; and Jennette Parker, senior, Concordia. The honor society recognizes and promotes academic excellence in higher education. The students, all in the Department of Technology Studies, included Jeremy LeDuc, sophomore, Assaria; Jamie Kyler, senior, Ellsworth; and Nick Wolff, junior, Herington. ^ ^ m FORT HAYS STATE: Christopher Tucker, a graduate of Salina Central High School, has been awarded a drama scholarship for the 2000-2001 academic year from Friends of Education Foundation. TII/MXCD As a high TUCKER school student. Tucker was involved in many of the drama productions and became a thespian of troupe 693. He is a freshman" at Fort Hays State, where he is majoring in modern languages., He is currently starring in the school's main stage production of "Six Characters in Search of an Author." He is the son of John and Susan Tucker, Salina. FORT HAYS STATE: Jason Regnier, Salina, a junior at Fort Hays State University, is a member of the school's nationally recognized debate team. Regnier was on a team that was ranked 10th in the nation and reached the round of 16 at the national debate tourna- ipsnt at Baylor University, Texas. Regnier received 23rd individual speaker ranking out of 156. NEBRASKA UNIVERSITY: Elizabeth Doll, Salina, a student at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, was inducted April 6 into PsiChi, a national psychology honorary society. • # « « BETHANY COLLEGE: Jerilynn Beckman, Salina, and Kendall Peterson, Lindsborg, received scholarships from Bethany College, Lindsborg. Beckman received a Founder's Scholarship and an Academic Excellence Award. Peterson received a President's Scholarship and a Performance Award in football. Beckman is the daughter of Ray and Debbie Beckman, Salina. Peterson is the son of Terry and Susan Peterson, Lindsborg. MIDAMERICA: Elaine Cunningham, Salina, will graduate in May from Mi- dAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe. Cunningham received a bachelor of arts degree in accounting. KANSAS STATE: Local and area students at Kansas State University participated in Kansas State University Telefund 2001, the world's largest all-volunteer telephone campaign for higher education, and received $250 Parents' Telefund Scholarships. The scholarships were awarded to student callers in each college who earned the most pledges during the campaign. Receiving scholarships were Ben Baffa, Clint Randolph, Tiffany Bonilla, Lynnae Robbins, Michelle Buccigrossi, Chris Shane arid Andrea Shane, all of Salina, and Karma Loughney, Assaria. The Parents' Telefund Scholarship fund, which received $31,098 in pledges this year, is a fund established through pledges from student callers' parents and other family members. Julie Mueting, Salina, was recognized as one of the top three student callers in the college of engineering. Darin Guries, Salina, was recognized as one of the top three student callers in the college of business administration. They were part of more than 1,561-student volunteer callers, representing all nine academic colleges, who volunteered at least four hours during Tele­ fund 2001.
