Twinbill Based On Top Novels Saturday Evening There'll be some dirty doin's on the "Gunsmoke" show this evening. A couple of bad guys named Cleed and Lucas try to all Marshal Dillon, but they fail to get the job done They hire a fella named Painter to try to all the marshal, and that's pretty sneaky. Channels 5 and 13 at 9. Earlier in the evening Jackie Gleason brings back a pair of old-time radio favorites, Jack Pearl and Cliff Hall. Youngsters of today who are too young to remember hearing a comedian on he radio ask "Vas you there, Charlie? probably will think its *etty corny when Pearl and lall do one of their old Baron klunchausen routines. Channels 5 and 13 at 6:30. Sunday Evening A documentary to be presented on Channel 4 at 9 this evening will offer something quite different. Two movies based on popular novels, "Peyton Place" and "The Long Hot Summer," open Sunday, March 10, at Ottawa's Plaza Theater. William Faulkner wrote "Summer," story of a family in Mississippi, particularly the effect of a brutal "strongman" on the lives of his family and their .friends. Orson Welles plays the strongman, and Joanne Woodward, a troubled daughter. Paul Newman plays an opportunist who becomes a sharecropper on Welles' Plantation. "Peyton Place," story of personal doings of some people in a smallish town, the stars Lana Turner and Hope Lange. To open Thursday, March 14, at the Plaza are "Requiem for A Heavyweight," starring Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason, Mickey Rooney and Julie Harris, and "Operation Mad Ball," with Jack Lemmon, Ernie Kovacs and Ronney. The hour-long show takes the viewer off-stage for a look at Shelley Berman in the moments and under the circumstances the viewing public doesn't ordinarily see. Berman will be seen in a furious mood because of his monolog being interrupted by a jangling telephone. He'll be seen smoking, pacing, waiting for time to go on for his performance at a Florida hotel. The program should be sufficiently different to be highly entertaining.
