Thursday night's game against Cleveland will be the first-it will also be the first time most local viewers have seen a ballgame completely without commercials. The fight of the month will be on July 19. But don't ask who the fighters are; you've never heard ot them. Then there's the concerts, musical performances by major stars. This month includes a concert by Joel Grey and a Peter Allen concert with the Rock-ettes. Super TV has also arranged a simulcast concert (with WIYY-FM, 98-Rock) of the best of the Doors, including interviews with the band's surviving members.

The technical side is what confuses people most. They don't understand the concept of "over-the-air" subscription TV, mostly because they've heard too much about cable. This is not cable. It is broadcasting. The signal comes in over the airwaves to an antenna, just like commercial TV.

In this case the signal comes in "scrambled," that is, the picture has lines through it and the sound is broken up. In order to unscramble the signal, a subscriber gets a "decoder," which is attached to his TV set. He also gets a special antenna applied to his roof to receive the signal, but most viewers in the area should receive the signal from Channel 54 without trouble anyway.
