This opens April 15 and will close October 31, inclusive. Bag limit, 20 fish per day, or 20 pounds and one fish. The Cowlitz 2'iver is open the entire year.

All other streams and lakes are open Cispus, and Johnson creek and Packwood lake trails. Fishing Is Restricted. Fishing in all Lewis county streams excepting the Cowlitz river will be closed from February 28 to April 15. according to Warden Beusch. After March 1 everyone over 16 years of age must also secifre a new license in order to hunt and fish.

Bird Loss Is Small. Warden Beusch reported Tuesday that thus far all indications are that. the loss of game birds and others in Lewis county during the recent ex- April 15-October 31, excepting for 1929, the following: Walupt lake, tended snow and cold spell was un- Jug lake, north fork of Newaukum usually small. To date but ten river above Chehalis-Centralia water have been found dead, five of these intakes and Conley creek near Morton.

During the dry season a closed area to fishing has been established by the Forest Service in Rainier National Forest in the following district: The Cispus below East Canyon, exclusive of the road as far as Smith creek and west fork of the Til- Ion. Warden Beusch gives the various chapters of the Izaak Walton League in Lewis county principal credit for helping save the birds. In practically every section Waltonites were active in leaving feed where the birds might find it during the period when it would have been otherwise impossible for them to get sustenance in the fields and woods.
